Meh. Missed hire. It happens to everyone. He'll be gone in a year or two. The new coach will enjoy the strong recruiting (pun intended) he has done though.
I'll start this post with a qualifier. I hate Texas.
That said, I think you guys are gonna end up happy with Strong. He'll probably win the Big(whatever) conference this year.

Refresher for ya... Urban Meyer
Urban Meyer left UF in 2010. He was the Ohio State coach in 2012. There was never a point where he had the option of coaching Florida or Ohio State.

I know we have our moments of arrogance, he'll everyone does including LSU, but no school comes anywhere close to tu in that department.

Florida does not lose coaches to lateral college positions very often, can't really remember the last time it happened.
fine then. just pay the man a half million more a year starting next year and it might not happen again. but you gonna go in the ole hip pocket, cause Texas aint scared to.

I don't think that I've ever done this for another coach, but...
He gone.
Feels weird.

He "retired" from football, sat out one year, and took a lateral position.
He left your program.
Urban Meyer is one of the biggest scumbags in college sports, and somehow your ridiculous fan base is proud of his "accomplishments". If it weren't for the guy who recruits murderers (quit your program), and the "Ole' Ball Coach" (biggest a-hole in the business who also just quit his team mid season), Florida wouldn't amount to a damn thing. Notice the trend? Florida breeds quitters.

Arkansas had fricking BOBBY PETRINO as coach.

If Foley wants to keep him, he'll make a solid play to do so.
I will laugh my arse off if they can't poach a national seed coach though. Supposedly if O'Sullivan says no, they're going after UofL's Dan McDonnell but I don't see him leaving there either.

I can't stand UF, but that's silly

Schlossnagle Is making 375 and knows Texas, North La and OK recruiting. They could easily double his salary and have an equivalent coach to OSully IMO. He would jump. He is also really good with pitchers for those enamored with OSully.

Oh, I'm not melting. I just don't like Florida. Pretty simple. Totally calm. It's like a cool, calculated hatred.

Well, he is. His resume is approximately 1,000 X stronger than Kevin Sumlin's.

I will take a Bobby Petrino over the guy who recruits gang bangers and murderers any day.
As in, proven guilty in a court of law, cold-blooded murderer.

If you give Moo State, the hawgs, the cocks the records that O'Sullivan's gator teams have had, their stadiums, already full, would be overflowing. So to say being "above average" with the teams O'Sullivan has had is not saying much. When you turn on a big game, Cocks vs the gators early in the season, 1 vs 2 and see gaps in the stands, that is not above average attendance. And that seems to be a huge money difference & every coach looks at that. But, curious, what is O'Sullivan's coaching background?

In any UTx coaching search, they are always getting the top guy they want.....
Until they don't.

I get your point and I agree, but I don't think Charlie Strong was their top choice.
