UF is a good program but Texas is one of the few blue bloods in college baseball all-time. Not only that, but Texas is likely willing to pay him a lot more $. In neither way is it lateral.

I get that and I'm not saying it won't happen, just that it's not something we see very often. Typically UF will do what it takes to keep any coach it wants.

Cohen is like Dusty Baker. He's a good coach, but an insufferable jerk and can't win a title.

Urbs had heart issues and was literally digging his hole in Gville. He quit then left FB for a year. He did not make a lateral move. That would be akin to saying Nick Saban made a lateral move from LSU to Bama

Key word. Doesn't mean a thing. See Charlie strong

Meh. Missed hire. It happens to everyone. He'll be gone in a year or two. The new coach will enjoy the strong recruiting (pun intended) he has done though.

That's the word around H-Town. Schlossnagle Could also be in play for sure. OSully isn't making all that much and Texas has the pockets.

Fwiw, was just reported that O'Sullivan is due to make $665,000 this year in salary + bonuses.

Base salary is just under $600k.

Augie's base salary is $1.06M

He's got a good thing going in Ft. Worth. I wonder how much they are paying him? $400,000?

The only reason he quit and "took off for a year" was because he wanted out at UF and a comparable job wasn't open.

You think they'd offer him that? Seems pretty steep. Have to imagine any coach in the country would jump on that.

but how serious is UF about baseball?

Just because the fans are lacking doesn't mean UF doesn't care. Foley brings the A game and expects the best in ANY sport UF competes in.

Florida and Ohio State are orient on the same level. It would typically be considered a lateral move. But Urban basically destroyed the program after having inconsistent discipline. That's the ivy reason osu was in a better situation than Florida.

No offense to Florida, because they have always had a good/great baseball program, it's definitely not a "sexy" program for whatever reason... Have never had great fan support, media attention, etc. like other big-time programs like USC, LSU, Arky and Texas.

If Texas offers him, he would take it in a heartbeat IMO, even if Florida offers a raise. Texas and LSU are easily the 2 best jobs in college baseball.

If Texas gets Sullivan, they will go back to running baseball in that state.

Order restored in a sense

Are the fans lacking as much as is portrayed on here? We've finished top 20 on average each of the past 10 years and are normally in the top 15 with total attendance. Obviously we aren't bringing in 10,000 a night like some teams, but we're still above average when it comes to attendance around the country.
