The only Texas schools in FBS desperate enough to try that would be Texas State. (and that's only if nothing more comes out that makes Briles look worse)
I don't think any of the others would want to deal w/that kind of baggage.

I don't care who ya are, that's funny right there.
Thanks for sharing. I'd send this to my BU dad if I thought he ever checked his email/text messages.

So transparent. Settlement reached today. Briles then withdraws his petition for separate counsel.

They will announce a settlement on the Hernandez suit in the next few days I imagine.

One day after embattled Baylor football coach Art Briles accused the university of unfairly blaming him and the football program for the school's overall "institutional failure" in addressing sexual assault, he withdrew an emergency court motion for new attorneys in a federal Title IX lawsuit filed by a victim of sexual assault.

So the new story is that Briles used a rape victim for settlement leverage.
I hope that scumbag never works for another college program ever again.

Sips are saying the Big 12 is going to release a statement on Baylor today. Can the conference levy penalties on a school?

Actually Boren said it which makes me doubt it will happen. Mr. Wallflower is the Chip Brown of college presidents.

Here's the operative language from the BDF bylaws (specifically, Section 3.6):
quote:
Without limiting the foregoing and merely as an illustration of the types of Sanctions that could be considered by a Supermajority of Disinterested Directors are prohibitions on appearance in postseason events or televised events, restrictions on revenue distributions, and limitations on recruiting or scholarships.
So nothing prohibits the remaining members from sending Baylor to the curb. And given their past issues with the murder cover-up, one can argue "lack of institutional control" as a basis.
Given how OU wants out, why not unravel things?

I wonder if years from now it will come out that Texas paid/influenced victims or people in the know to come forward. They did it to SMU in the 80s and it was a Texas alum that brought the info to the attention of WFAA, which eventually broke the story that led to the DP.

Baylor fans have already discussed the fact that the Sips are behind the NLI release activity.
Take a look at the Ole Miss situation. They are under investigation, have received a list of infractions, lied to their last recruiting class, and self-imposed sanctions. Not a single one of their recruits have asked for release from NLI.
The Sips also have a connection to Chris Vaughn who was named in the Ole Miss case. They are connected to the coach that Bama had to get rid of this year for recruiting violations. Strong's former recruiting coordinator at Louisville was kicked out of college football, but none of this sticks to Teflon Charlie.
The Sips are playing chess while most of us are playing checkers.

He basically has these guys as hired guns. They know the deal. In return for a nice paycheck, they organize the bagmen-ism, and when they get caught or people start smelling around, they get "fired" and move along with their money. All the blame and attention sticks to them and goes down with them, and they are fine with it since they got paid for their service as essentially a contractor and that was the plan all along. Charlie washes his hands and says "he was a bad guy, but when we found out, we fired him so we are blameless and took action to correct this." Media gives Charlie a pass. Repeat with another guy.
