Sources: The Orlando Magic plan to redshirt No. 16 overall pick Chuma Okeke this season. Creative move by both sides allows Okeke to focus on ACL rehab while still being in team's long-term plans and receiving salary of 16th pick.

I want to see an Auburn player in a real NBA game so badly. Jared will get some run with Phoenix eventually tho.

Our style of play puts high value on "tweeners" who rarely are elite recruits. Yes it sucks, but it isn't the dropoff it is for say Kentucky when they miss

Until blue bloods are straight copying our style completely, we will continue to win even without elite recruits

Yep. We are fine without them. If we can grab a couple of them it's just lining our streets with gold.

We can have a positionless basketball style that works well with Auburn. If anything I thought selling that would work well with Kessler. We would’ve allowed him to shoot to his delight. I wonder if he was worried about playing the 5 though since we often play small.

I did too. It's not like we don't get our 5 any shots. How many threes did McLemore attempt? I'm sure that would be expanded given Kessler is probably a better shooter paired with Harper and Brown not coming back.

If the info from the guy I quoted earlier is true then yes.

Is there a precedent for when a Head Coach has an assistant go rogue only to benefit himself and hurt the school he’s coaching for? Surely, Person has to be the first time that’s happened. Based on that bylaw, I think Pearl has a rebuttal for not being responsible for Person’s actions.

Right, I guess the difference there is Person intending to benefit himself vs intending to benefit the program.

The NCAA is anything but consistent however, so I don't know what to make of any of this.

Yes, but not really. We will get some type penalty, but not a lot came out in court about Persons (Thank you guilty plea). Auburn will say that it was not about recruiting, but encouraging folks to leave. That Bruce would have stopped that if he had known. That we took action and suspended the two players for over a year.

NCAA bylaw 11.1.1.1 states that a "head coach is presumed to be responsible for the actions of all staff members who report, directly or indirectly, to the head coach. The head coach will be held accountable for violations in the program unless he or she can rebut the presumption of responsibility."

HEAD COACH RESPONSIBILITIES OF COMPLIANCE

Above is a link to a little pdf outlining the ways a head coach is responsible for mishaps in an NCAA program. I promise we are going to be fine. Bruce (due to previous errors) and our compliance are great with this stuff.

Today is the first day the team can practice as we're officially 42 days (6 weeks) before our first regular season game against GA Southern.

Funny for hooks to say this when UNC is a leader for putting SFs and PFs in the league.

Bryce Brown IG story has him in Fenway playing some sort of softball game with some Celts players and he himself has a Celtics jersey on. Did I miss him getting a G League deal or something?

I saw this too and immediately tried to find information on it, but I couldn't find anything linking him to the Celtics or their G-League team. I know he worked out for them earlier in the summer, but that's it.

Bryce Brown signed a two-way contract with the Boston Celtics and their G League team.
