I got accepted and still am deciding between UF and UGA.
If money wasn't an issue, my top 5 would be:
1. UF
2. Vandy
3. UGA
4. Texas A&M
5. Alabama

We can't all wear t-shirts making fun of an accident that killed 12 people less than a year after the event took place.
The specific shirts in question showed a collapsed bonfire with the phrase, "what's the matter Aggies, can't get it up?" in November of 2000.

Not meant to be a flame, but who ranks Alabama in the Top 10?
I just did a quick google search and found the "Accounting Degree Review" website. It says it combines the rankings for Accounting programs from US News & World Report, Bloomberg Business Week, and the Public Accounting Report. It produces a ranking of the Top 30 universities for undergraduate accounting degrees.
SEC schools ranked:
#10 Georgia
#11 Texas A&M
#20 Florida
#26 Missouri
#30 Tennessee
Alabama does not make the list.
It also lists the best graduate schools for accountants:
#11 Texas A&M
#14 Ole Miss
#15 Georgia
#17 Missouri
#18 Florida
#28 Alabama
#29 Tennessee
#43 South Carolina
#45 Arkansas
There is also some website at thebigfouraccountingfirms.org and they list their Top 50 programs:
#8 Ole Miss
#13 Texas A&M
#20 Missouri
#21 Florida
#27 Georgia
#37 Tennessee
#38 Alabama
#49 Arkansas
Based off what I see, Alabama ranks in the middle of the pack for the SEC schools.

When I was there a few years ago, they were in the 55-60 range. Not sure what has happened.
A couple of things happened since A&M was in the top 50 (when I was in school):
-Journalism program ended
-Failed program known as "Vision 2020"
-Increased enrollment
-More of a focus on "return on investment"

Love the intellectual elitism in this thread. Since all of you Fortune 500 CEOs only look at academic rankings, student life doesn't factor into your respective decisions?

Do you think anywhere in the SEC has shitty student life? Maybe some people don't like the small towns in MS, but really I have to say SEC towns are pretty legit overall. All have their pros and cons, but most people go to school to get a good job. So academics mean a lot more than who has the best bar scene.

Well, what am I going to school for? If I was making that decision, seems like my choices would be A&M, Arkansas, Miss St, Auburn, Florida, and LSU.
You throw out the silly rankings and factor in things that really matter: community, location, cost of living, how much student debt you'll take on, and LSU is an easy choice for me.
It would cost twice as much to cross a state line and go to MSU or Arkansas. I don't know why anyone with half a brain would double or triple student debt just to get the same degree from a school in a different state.

Didn't say I thought anywhere in the secondary there was shitty student life. Most college towns have their perks and charms. My point was the school/town/locale os going to play a part in where one is going to spends a few years of his or her life.

If you are talking about tuition then you don't know much about Arkansas.

In state tuition at LSU is around 8 or 9k, fees add up on top of that. It was like, 5 or 6k when I went to LSU.
How much is out of state tuition at Arkansas?

The Public Accounting Report by CCH which is the end all be all of Accounting Rankings and has been for forever (as well as the end all be all of Accounting Firm reports). Go look at any accounting school website, the rankings they trumpet are PAR's.

Most of the SEC has solid accounting programs, but the top 3-4 schools litter the halls at the Big 4 in the South and across the country, for that matter.

I wasn't aware of that.
I probably would have enjoyed Fayetteville when I went back to school a few years ago.

I don't know when exactly that came into place but it has been a while now. That is one reason we have so many Dallas kids.
