Wasn't even a few years ago Bama and AU were both close to being in the 60s.

I don't think so. You are probably thinking Top 60 PUBLIC schools.

No, it was USA today. I exaggerated, but Bama was around 75-77, while AU I believe was 79.

I lied.

Yeah, it's a joke. That particular poll is heavily biased against southern schools. I don't know why anyone would use it for selecting a school to attend.

A&M has dropped several spots the last couple of years as well. When I was there a few years ago, they were in the 55-60 range. Not sure what has happened. Probably how our Chancellor wants to get enrollment up to 70k.

I know several people who are complete morons that went there, so I wouldn't say it's completely false. I get that they're ranked higher than LSU in some category, but I'm just throwing in my .02

I would not want to attend a school that big.

A&M's enrollment is already large at over 58k. Bama is just over 36k and that seems a lot to me.

Schools have really started manipulating their stats to play towards the ratings.

Forbes academic rankings are a bit different, but follow the same order fairly close. If you average Forbes and USN&WR together, you get this:

1) Vanderbilt
2) Florida
3) Georgia
4) Texas A&M
5) Auburn
6) South Carolina
7) Missouri
8) Alabama
9) LSU
10) Tennessee
11) Arkansas
12) Kentucky
13) Ole Miss
14) Mississippi State
