I guess they were kind of before your time, but I remember them being pretty much a package deal during recruiting and stories about how close they were at A&M. I didn't know TJE lived with Von though. It's awesome they've stayed really close

I remember back in 2010 in an early season game (Arkansas? Ok State?) all four of them wearing something on their unis or a sweatband for one of their DeSoto friends that passed

its awesome that they all made the NFL as well. thats would be such a trip to be friends with the same group of people your whole life, play college ball together, and then all make it to the NFL

Great article! Thanks for the link.

That was great. I love the image of pee-wee Von Miller wearing recspecs over his helmet "motocross" style, and tony saying "like snoopy".

Damn, that was a pretty good article by the guys.

Amazing how A&M was able to find that group of guys and convince them to come to A&M. Hopefully they help us continue the DeSoto pipeline. It's a must.

Those glasses were not regulation thickness. They were super-super thick. But then in the sunlight, the lenses would change from clear to purple. They shape-shifted into shades. You had some Star Trek glasses, bruh.

I didn't follow the program too closely during the Fran years and wasn't following recruiting at all, so I didn't remember that story either.

Imagine those guys going back home for the holidays and being able to say, yeah, we're all in the NFL now. Just like we said we'd be.

How fricking ridiculous was the talent on that 2006 Desoto team? Like six players from that team made it to the NFL.

I actually went to the same HS as Damontre (Rowlett). He was a freshman my senior year. I played basketball and played him in many a pickup game the school gym and local rec since he was in 7th grade or so.

He was a ridiculous athlete even at 13-14 years old.

I once detoured through DeSoto on my way back to Austin after visiting the inlaws when there was an ice storm that shut down the freeways. That's as close as I've come to greatness.

TJE Cyrus and Von I remember all being linked. And I think Damontre we got in good with because he kind of knew them even though he was from Rowlett.

Here was the story I was talking about, I missed on some of the details- in 09 both Von and Cyrus wore 24 against Arkansas to honor a friend from DeSoto who was paralyzed while playing football

LINK

I forgot Garrick Williams went to DeSoto also from that team
