It went crazy after Christmas if I remember correctly.

I'm tired of traveling this season to be honest. ATL to kick off the season, went to Athens, to ATL for the SECCG, and to Dallas for the semifinal for New Years.
I've got a few slabs of ribs going on the grill, a nice bottle of Makers Mark ready, a great fire going, and a fine cigar for later. And I'm perfectly content to sit this one out and enjoy it with friends/family tonight.

The Auburn-Oregon game was infamous because it was one of the few times in history that Stubhub pulled all tickets for a game on its website due to certain high profile brokers admitting they did not have enough tickets to meet the demand they had advertised. Stubhub was going around offering fans twice the price they paid if they would sell them back to stubhub so they could fulfill orders.
Didn't know that thanks

Yes, but tickets being sold before game time are not going to be included. It's just the transaction price for tickets purchased on their website I would guess.
I was talking about aftermarket tix. Tons of people I know (that didn't get them for free b/c LSU admins took them all......allegedly) got 6-7 seats for 10,000, a few were 2 seats @ 700 each. I guess it is a matter of timing as to when you buy them.

I'm not necessarily saying this is wrong, but it's a bit hard to believe that the AVERAGE price of any cfb ticket was $5,100.
We got offered 12k for two by some entity claiming to be associated with Stubhub the day before the game. As I recall there were major shortages from companies with lots of guaranties and exposure and the prices skyrocketed as a result.
They were already pretty high (I almost pulled the trigger on 2 for about 3500 before getting them through a connection for face) in the weeks leading up to the game.

I don't believe any of these numbers. They all look way higher than reality.

I do remember the AU vs Oregon prices were so high I said frick it. I was at AU & my parents were going to pay my entire way. No way was I going to drop that kind of money on 1 football game.

My brother texted me earlier this afternoon from a bar in Phoenix and said there was a guy in there selling 2 for $175 each.

I am pretty sure they were about 6-900 after Ohio state lost their championship game.
I wish I would have purchased then
We held off thinking tickets would saturate the market. Boy we were fricking wrong.

Avg price is not a good measuring stick. A few tickets prices ridiculously high can run up the average. Give me the median price. The lowest price is also a great indicator of ticket demand.

The numbers are very wrong for AU/Oregon.
I remember looking at a pair of shitty upper deck tix being $12K

Article here says the tickets are the cheapest ever on stubhub for a championship game, 3000 still available on stub hub a few hours ago, 185 per ticket, bama tickets are 30 percent cheaper than clemson tickets, and clemson fans have been buying up tickets in bama sections.
