Looks for deals on huge hunks of steak. Can get NY Strip and sometimes Ribera under 10/lb or even better if you're willing to cut them up.
Yes sadly you do need to freeze them, but you can mitigate the damage by either vacuum sealing the meat or wrapping it in cling wrap and then alluminum foil. Keep the air out and you won't do terrible damage to the meat from freezing.
Do keep as many as reasonable to eat from the big cut in the fridge for your eating pleasure.

If the ribeye is too expensive for you right now, look at the New York strips.

Strips baby!
I prefer leaner cuts so even a sirloin or a chuck is a decent substitute. Tri-Tips are the Cali way.

Look for a top sirloin with a little marble. They grill pretty decent.

Piggly-Wiggly: Chuck-eye Steak is the Butchers Best Kept Secret.
Look for Well Marbled USDA Choice & marinate overnight.

Best grilling steak is skirt steak.
It's not exactly a big hunk of meat most people think of when they crave steak, but throw some soy sauce, olive oil, and lime on it for a while. Chuck it on a hot grill, and slice up against the grain.
Good stuff.
I prefer my "good" steak in a pan though.

Dales sauce and thick cut pork chops on the grill. Just as good or better!
Much cheaper.

My local piggly wiggly just had ny strips for 5.73 a pound a few days ago. Check local markets often.

My man!
Your butcher marks shite down that doesn't sell. Mine does it every morning at 9:AM. Try and be there when they do it and buy what they mark down. It is typically a big savings. It also makes cooking fun because you never know what you are going to get.

Thick cut Strip should do the trick

Sirloin steaks are a good alternative.
Also chuck steaks are pretty good even though the are considered a lower grade.
Also ribeyes come in different grades (as all steaks), so instead of getting the choice grade, you could go with the lower grade.
