Its odd, when I talked with John and Dennis yesterday afternoon they said emphatically that Kirby wasn't interested in it.

I'll call after this mornings meetings and see if they missed something.

It is the silly season.

If Kirby doesnt take a job this year, then IMHO, he will never leave. So many openings this year

Is he just waiting for the UGA job??

Kirby ain't getting the UGA job. Blacksburg would be perfect for him.

Of course he is interested. I'm interested in that job if they give me a call as well.

Smart would take any of the major openings this year.

I do not believe he'll be offered the SC job either. Head coaching experience is important. We learned that the hard way with Brad Scott. But the VA Tech job would be prefect for him IMHO.

So they would pass over Bud Foster?

Thought he was the coach in waiting to a degree

No. A job like Central Florida or Houston (Herman leaves for another school) would be perfect for him. Both are schools with fertile recruiting grounds in a non Power 5 conference. The top schools will start looking at him after he proves himself as a head coach.

If Kirby leaves, does Nick try to get Pruitt to leave Athens?

It's really a good fit for him, I think. I hope he gets it.

I don't understand all of this hype over Kirby Smart. The last 2 seasons the Alabama Defense has taken a step back especially with the defensive talent they have brought in. IMO Smart should never be spoken of for any job over Kiffin

Good. I really don't want a HC without HC experience.

Alabama is ranked #4 in total defense.
#3 in rushing defense.
Top 20 in creating turnovers
#11 in INTs
Top 10 in sacks
Top 15 in scoring defense

If that is your definition of taking a step back, I hope Alabama continues to take a step back this year.

I think it would be stupid for Kirby to take the VT job or any major P5 job without having some head coaching experience. If I was Kirby I would take a job like UCF (G5 school in a talent rich state with decent facilities) and wait for Saban to retire at Bama or the UGA job (his alma mater) to come open.
