Does the NCAA only have licensed rights to allow for bands/songs to play four songs?

I just watched the replay of GA Tech / FSU Game. There's two bands at the game and besides a few of the fight songs, war chant, etc. I must have heard the following:

Thunderstruck by AC/DC - At least 25 times
Apotheosis Rave Song - At least 25 times

Timber (piped in Music) at least 10 times

Seven Nation Army Song - At least 28 times
Zombie Nation - At least 30 times

Fall Out Boy (piped in Music and ESPN) - Centuries at least 15 times

This isn't just GA Tech that does this. It's every fricking College Football band in America doing this.

It makes me cringe while watching College Football.

I watch one game and hear the same shite after every play... watch another game and hear the same shite after each play... watch another game and hear these same songs after every play... watch another game and hear these same songs after every play

And it has been like this for the past few years. It's making me really dislike watching College Football.

I am sure I will have a bunch of dick faces scold me for this post but the band and piped in music is getting really fricking annoying.

They need to come up with something different because I hear the same songs every different game for an entire long season.

It really is a terrible thing, I don't know why all these schools think it's what the fans want.

At least you can hear your band Ole Miss' band is so quiet we actually have to use speakers to be able to hear the band.

LSU has a specific song for each down. They then play various traditional songs throughout different phases of the game. What's nice is that with the exception of Tiger Rag and Eye of the Tiger, their music is very unique to LSU.

They also play the occasional pop rock song like Green Day's Holiday. However, most of the really good stuff gets banned because the students add a bunch of profanity to shout.

There is more and more pipped in music being added. It's typically before kick offs, or during a lull. I'm fine with most of it, as it seems to get both the team and crowd into it.

My ears bleed at the mention of that song... if they're gonna let band music take a backseat to piped in stadium music, at least play something hype.

It'll probably get better, since they didn't really play too much pop music in CFB at all 25 years ago. LSU just started playing pop songs but they probably don't have a professional picking the music and worry that an exotic playlist would spoil the mood with all the old's at college games. "I'm From Louisiana" is great usually but damn on the 7th time they're playing it when you're down 21 to State...

But the bands' halftime performances are about as stiff and lifeless as they come.

Here's why they don't. :-(

The piped in music bothered me at first, but I no longer have an issue with it. We seem to have a pretty good guy (or gal or folks) making the selections. The fact that we use the Dropkick Murphys for our intro shows somebody is putting some thought into it and looking for something a little different. They have the standard stuff they play during the game, but they also seem to mix in a couple of new wrinkles each week.

I guess the reason I moved on from getting hung up on the piped in stuff was like you said, our band kept playing the same old songs over and over so it was a nice change of pace. To the band's credit, they've been mixing in some new material here lately. They even got off the normal halftime stuff this past weekend and threw in some "Frozen", which sounded good coming from a marching band.

totally agree with you. I am old school. I like going to the game and experiencing the collegiate atmosphere, which includes the band and the fanfare.

The piped in music has made it feel like the NBA. I only watch the NBA for game 5, 6, and 7.
