What do you need to see from Sumlin for him to NOT be on a "warm" seat next year

1. Take "Chavis" like action on the offensive side of the ball. He cannot wait another season like he did with Snyder. The damage of another year like this will be too great.

2. Beat LSU

If this doesn't happen his seat will be warm next year

What would make his seat HOT?

1. Failing to take action on the offensive side of the coaching staff

2. Losing 2 of the next 5 including LSU

Unless he wins out he's on the hot seat. He can go 10-3 and not beat anyone worth a damn.

Beat LSU or bust

So if he loses to LSU again and wins a bowl his seat doesn't even get warm?

I disagree

A team playing like a team
Beat LSU
Hire a proven OC

If he does none of these he needs to go.
If he only does 2 of these he needs to go.
If he only does one of these he needs to go.

This is for next year, we ain't beating LSU this year, hell we'll be lucky to beat Scar.

I'll go along with #1, but there's no way A&M is beating LSU.

Honestly?

Have a worse than top 15 class (or worse that Baylor/TCU whoever is higher) on NSD.

If Baylol or Purple Baylol ever and I mean ever have a higher rated class than we do, the whole staff needs to go.

If Spav is still here January, there's nothing he can do to not make me want him out the door.

Personally I'd prefer tomorrow morning, but mid season firings are stupid unless it's a Joe Paterno or Sark situation.

9-3 is the minimum, anything less is unacceptable as this schedule isn't very hard this year. Also needs to close out recruiting and ink a top 20 class. anything less and it hot.

Honestly even if he accomplishes those things we need to win 10+ next year, you don't pay a coach 5 million to win 7-9 games most of his seasons. If we had wanted that, his salary should have been 3 million.

The way we have seen Sumlin handle the locker room has led me to believe that he needs to move on. Our first clue should have been the way he handled Terrance Broadway at UofH. It was a poorly handled situaion.

I don't think we are going to like our schedule next year. This year was our year, next year is not going to be fun.

Every coach in the SEC West makes 4+. Sumlin's 5 million dollar salary is a bit rich, but not much.

If we finish 10-3/9-4 + finish ranked, sign a good class, and hire a Chavis-level OC during the offseason, I don't know how his seat would be even warm. Between 2000 and 2012 when he arrived, we had one ranked finish. 10-3 or hell even 9-4 will mean a ranked finish.

Also, you don't bring in a new HC because the old guy was doing a great job. You bring one in because the old guy was screwing things up and got shite canned. So Sumlin will (appropriately) say he took over a complete dumpster fire on defense, and has recruited + hired his way to a solid unit that's only going to get better. He'll then say that he made some mistakes with the OC and had a few recruiting misses on the OL, but he's fixing the problem and still fielding ranked teams while doing so. And that'll be that.

At this point, there is nothing he can do to NOT have a warm seat next year. If he does all the things everyone here is sayin he must do, then he gets a warm season. How he performs then is what determines if the Sumlin Era ends in 2016.
