ESPN article: Big 10 right now is as dominant as the SEC was in the BCS era

I like how the article slams Oklahoma because "We don't know if their win over Tennessee is good or not" but praises Michigan for beating the worst team in the Pac-12 and calls Penn State "good not great".

Which brings us to today in the Midwest. For Ohio State and Michigan State, the road looks familiar. The high-profile Power 5 wins are out of the way (thank you Hokies and Ducks). Now the goal will be to survive mid-fall without a letdown, bulldozing the bad teams (Indiana, Maryland, Rutgers, Purdue, take your pick) and knocking out good-but-not-great, big-brand-name opponents (Michigan and Nebraska for MSU, Penn State and Minnesota for OSU) before the Nov. 21 showdown in Columbus, Ohio.

What a clown. Not even close.

This is your fault, Arkansas, Auburn and Tennessee

The SEC is down and certainly overrated, but that is just pure stupidity.

4 different teams won titles during that run though. The Big Ten (Twelve) won't do that.

MSU scored 31 on Oregon. Eastern Washington scored 42 on them the week before. Don't know about Oregon's coach, but he's no Kelly.

Except the Big 10 hasn't waxed an SEC team in the title game like UF and LSU did to Ohio State.

The B1G currently has 14 teams

Agree it is a ludicrous article though. The B1G needs to win some big bowl games and throw up a couple more titles

The top of the B1G is just fine. Ohio St. can play with anyone, and Michigan St. isn't far behind. Wisconsin is a solid program, and Michigan will get there with Harbaugh.
The B1G's problem is the middle and bottom of the league. Purdue, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Rutgers are glorified MAC teams. The middle of the league; Minnesota, Penn St., Northwestern, Iowa is blah at best.

I can't even keep up. Call it the Big 14 now. Why not?

Michigan State and Ohio State are elite top 5 teams right now.
If the voters were being real with themselves, which they usually don't do besides trying to get the right team at #1, they would have Ohio State first and Michigan State second in the rankings since Michigan State has the best win on the season and likely all season long.
Wisky isn't what they use to be. Michigan is without a doubt on the rise. For anyone that watched them obliterated Oregon State, you will have known that Michigan held Oregon state to less than 10 yards of offense in the second half and dominated the game at the LOS.
Michigan is likely to win 8 games this year and next year they bring in Peters the QB recruit. IMO, Peters is the best high school QB in the nation by a half of a mile. Go and watch his game on ESPN3 from this past Friday night to see for yourself.
Top to bottom though the SEC is deeper. But at the top, the B1G is currently better.

Maryland and Rutgers may be ok teams in the future, with the additional $ they are bringing in and some good in state recruiting possible
Minny has gotten better every year, and NW looks pretty good this year (2 weeks in of course).
To be great, you need 2-3 top 10 caliber teams, and 2-3 more who are top 25 or right there (5 total)

You mean the top two teams?

I guess we'll find out how strong the conference is this weekend:
USF @ MARYLAND
ILL @ UNC
NW @ DUKE
VT @ PURDUE
PITT @ IOWA
NEBRASKA @ MIAMI

Good finds. These are a lot of ACC/B1G games where the teams are thought to be about equal (aside from VT who should throttle Purdont) and the B1G game in there

The actual headline of the article:
"Flipping the Field: Ohio State-Michigan State has Big Ten looking like dominant SEC of BCS era"
You can't argue against the headline. Michigan State is the only team in the country the last two seasons that finished in the top 5 of the two major polls. They beat the Big 12 conference champ last year. They beat the Pac 12 champ in the Rose Bowl. They beat Oregon this past Saturday.
Ohio State is the defending national champ.
