I'm sure the Bear is looking up and smiling at this thread.

Where is proof of Bryant's alcoholism and/or domestic violence that the Boogs love to trumpet?

He went to rehab in 1978.

And promptly started drinking again about a month after finishing the program... And went on to win the next two National Championships ('78, '79). The man didn't have any quit in him.

Can't disagree with that

Bryant's drinking is well known....I wouldn't go so far as to call him an alcoholic but he liked to drink, probably too much and did a brief stint at Betty Ford in the 70's....didn't really change him too much and he went on and won two more titles...

...but where do these guys get this crap about him being a woman beater?

I appreciate all who answered my question.

No one can shed any light on the accusations of domestic violence, however.

I figured it was just jealousy from the Plainsmen.

That is just bullshite spewed by these guys...Bryant was married to the same woman for nearly 50 years....he may have been a lot of things but physically abusive to women is not one of them.....

I fully realize that you're almost certainly just a dumbassed troll who's entire grasp of WW2 history probably came from watching Pearl Harbor reruns on TNT and thus should be ignored, but I can't let this one go.

Your chance of being killed as a ground combat solider/marine in WW2? 1.78 in 1,000 in the Pacific. 0.36 in the ETO.

Your chance of being killed as a member of the merchant marine? 1 in 26

Source

The US Merchant Marine had the highest fatality rate of any uniformed service in WW2 and it took a federal court ruling in 1988 to finally get them recognized as veterans.

Greatest football book ever written. It was ghosted, but Coach Bryant said every word. Not your typical ghosted bio.

Hell, Beah, think I will get it off the shelf. I can read it for the 15th time before Wisky.

If we drop the rivalry posturing, I think everyone can agree that both Bryant and Saban were very good for Auburn football.

Exactly. When we are down Auburn is always down even though they beat us during our down time. Saban at BAMA is directly responsible for Auburn winning a NC.

When we were down all those years that sat there with Tubbs doing his Mark Richt impersonation. Beating BAMA has always been enough for Auburn.

I've always been thankful for Bear Bryant. He has kept a lot of trash out of Auburn for the past 50+ years.
I see that he didn't have any luck with you though.

Right. That's why I stated that he was part of the '73 title team. So...

Don't sell Dye short. As far as I know Bryant never lost his pants in Lake Martin.
