Shug stormed the beaches of Italy, Normandy and the Pacific... Your hero was a merchant marine in the rear with the gear...

I know this is a troll attempt.. but Auburn embraced Bear long ago

Mostly true.

I actually think Alabama and Auburn are good for each other. They push one another to be better.

You seem really upset about something. Did this thread strike a nerve?

Ditto, as I also stated, but he makes him sound like John fricking Wayne!

To be honest, they soon copy everything we do. As an example, they were using those big, burly boys and we beat 'em with little quick ones. They switched to the little quick ones and we went to the big ones and beat 'em some more. Now they're back to the big ones. It's flattering, actually."

If we drop the rivalry posturing, I think everyone can agree that both Bryant and Saban were very good for Auburn football.

additionally, tuberville may still be at AU, they stay in the middle-upper class of the SEC (save '04); they do not win a MNC in '10 and don't make it in '13

it can and should be argued that Saban's presence in Tuscaloosa is what has motivated the Auburn AD to do everything they can to remain competitive.
2000-2006

Bama: 30-40.. 1 Western Division 1st place finish, 2 Independence Bowl wins
Auburn: 66-23.. 4 Western Division 1st place finishes, 1 SEC Championship, 6 bowl wins including an undefeated season.

Seems like it could be that AU's success pushed Alabama to hire a top tier coach.

Don't blame me, you and your ilk apparently take pride in ISIS supporting bama. It's really not surprising, its the same fan base that will murder one of its own for not taking a loss seriously, tea bag passed out opposing friends, shooting a child for wanting to borrow the car after losing to Arky, and of course environmental terrorism. Proclaiming allegiance to ISIS is the next step.

"Kill all the infidels who don't worship the bear."

is why there is an arms race in the SEC West featuring coaching staffs, facility upgrades, bagmen, and best "family atmosphere"

This thread hasn't been nearly the disaster I expected. I would have expected phannie and TnM to have each had strokes, and some things said about Coach Bryant that would have led to poisoned trees.

So far, this is no more mean-spirited than the average "How Many Championships Does Bama REALLY Have" thread.

John Wayne is a pussy compared to Shug. Bronze star, purple heart, participated in 3 amphibious landings, dude did his duty and then some.

It's amusing that you and other Bama fans in here feel as if you had something to do with Bear's success.

The Auburn fans should have never even responded.

There's no denying he was a special kind of coach though.

I personally bought several Bear Bryant cokes. I feel that should at least get my name on a trophy or something.
