My point is that Brando has literally never told us what we want to hear.
Bama fans hate him because he hates us. For whatever reason.

Pearl hasn't won shite! He is a good coach,,,,,a sweet 16 coach and that is it.
He made the Elite Eight. The guy is a damn good coach.
And he was cut short with the show cause. He is a fantastic coach. One of the best in the country IMO. As much as I hate Auburn, I'm actually kind of excited to see what he is capable of doing with that program given what it is. I know that sounds sad and terrible, but I like the guy that much.

ah, I gotcha.
congrats on the hire though. I think it's a solid gamble given the options left

agreed about Pearl Kap.
as for your guys hire, i have always been a AJ fan when he was in the NBA. i think if he surrounds himself with assistants that know the college game, the transition shock wont be near as bad as some thinks.
i see good things coming for you guys

I'm not impressed at all. He's an out of work NBA coach.

He seems panicked and I'm not sure why.

I agree that will all come down to his choice for assistants. He's gonna need some help from some experienced college basketball recruiters and some experienced talent and fundamental developers I think.
Of course, I guess I could be wrong. His college capabilities as a coach are completely unknown. I suppose we could be looking at a future college hall of fame coach, I'm just not banking on it and I'm certainly not as excited as some folks are about it.

I said he was a good coach but putting him in the same sentence with Cal and Donovan is laughable. He may be able to get there but he is not even close to them yet.

well look at it like this man - he has nowhere to go but up with the program.
it may take a year or 2, but i think you guys are in good hands. its good to be cautious and not flip out though.
time will tell, and it should be a fun ride for you guys in the future.

The man should be an improvement over what he had for sure. Can't be worse than Hobbs. Nor Gottfried, who was an arrogant arse.

Yes he is a good coach, but I'm not putting him in Cal's or Donovan's category just yet. Are you? I was just saying this league only has two great coaches in response to all the Avery Johnson is not a great coach comments.

It really pisses me off that he just decided to started being a good coach again AFTER he got to NC State. He started well at Bama. Then he got lazy and fricking started jerking off instead of coaching. We fire him, he goes to NC state and is on fire.... REALLY??!?! frick you you jersey shore looking mother fricker.

Everything an NBA coach has to do, PLUS recruit, develop players, often times reteach fundamentals to players who were recruited as pure athletes, many times complete change offensive or defensive philosophies depending on the talent you were able to recruit, and then you have to be able to go out and promote your team, ESPECIALLY at a place like Alabama where football is king and you need someone to really push basketball to the masses.
I guess that would explain the guaranteed success of the top notch college coaches who go to the NBA and never fail, like John Calipari and Rick Pitino...oh wait, never mind, actually your arguments are pretty stupid and do not reflect reality.

What I'm interested to see:
1) How does he handle recruiting having never been a college coach before. This would be my biggest concern as an Alabama fan. He's only ever been an assistant or HC in the NBA.
2) How does he adjust his coaching to the college game? It's a totally different ballgame. And we've seen what can happen when guys who are exclusively college or exclusively NBA swap levels.
IMO it's a risky hire, but maybe not necessarily a bad one if he can make the necessary adjustments. I get the feeling that this can either be pretty successful or an utter failure.

LOL - 1/2 the crap you spew here is stupid and do not reflect reality.
calling out another poster, much less your own fanbase, for something you are more than guilty for yourself is laughable.

Penny pincher just offered a guy 4 times his salary to make him one of the highest paid coaches in the country. I'm not convinced that you know what you're talking about here.

Pretty much what I posted earlier. so what if he's pretty charismatic? the basketball coaches in the SEC have been building AAU relationships for 15-20 years at least. he's not going to walk in and break those bonds because he coached the Mavs for 7 seasons. If that were the case LSU would have signed the top 5 players this season with Eric Musselman on the bench.
I'm interested to see who he hires as assistants. that's going to be the tell-all, and I'm sure he's going to have a blank checkbook to tote around

Those coaches have something in common, their strong points are recruiting. something that is negated in the NBA. Therefore your comments are even more stupid and reflect complete idiocy. Thanks for playing though.

Will probably help recruiting. Could be a great hire.
