I'm not giving you any guidelines on how to choose, just maybe what's your most memorable.
I have a three-way tie for #1 for different reasons.
1a. Miss St. growing up in Baton Rouge, this was a trip I could make in a day. Have been to 7 games in Starkville since 96. The venue and town aren't much to speak of, but the people have always been fantastic. Always been able to score good seats for not much money, EVERY time have been invited into a random state tailgate and given food and great convo...just very hospitable people IMO.
1b. Tuscaloosa. Been three times. Mostly at the top because of the importance of every game I have attended including the best football game I have ever been to on the road 9-6. The older fans are awesome. Great people and very hospitable. The younger fans, at least the ones I've met, are mostly ignorant and entitled but I'm sure you could say the same thing about most young LSU fans.
1c. Athens. Only been once but it is the best campus IMO in the SEC taking off my purple and gold glasses. Love that the stadium is down in a valley that you cant really see until you are walking down to it. Love the restaurants and bars that are right off campus. The stadium is really nice and the atmosphere was pretty awesome too.
Honerable Mention:
Auburn. First trip to see an away game, cool pregame with the eagle flying over. Been three times.
College Station. Weird, but friendly fan base unlike what you read from many on here. Obsession rivals LSU and Alabama. Most in sync crowd with their "yells" was admittedly cool to see. Decent basketball facility as well.
Worst:
1a. Knoxville: Tennesse fans were rude and entitled overall. Vol navy was about the only cool pregame thing to see. When we beat them in the '07 sec championship game, the only things their fans said after the game was "you guys lost to arkansas". Only been to Knoxville once. Would like to go again to see if they have been humbled.
1b. Columbia: Ignorant fans, hostile (in a bad way fans). Threw batteries at us inside the game lol. Were doing the gator chomp while we were beating them bc we had lost to UF the week before. The rail car was cool and the stadium was different but i dug it. May show my nerdness but i imagined that is what a quidditch stadium would look like with the way yalls lights were set up.
Honerable mention:
Gainsville: May have been my high expectations but it didn't live up to what I thought it was gonna be. The stadium was cool but it was a low energy crowd and the city sucked.
Arkansas: Been to fayetteville and little rock. Both stadiums were meh to awful. Fans were ok. Hate when teams cheer "that's another..." "FIRST DOWN"...wth lol. Atmosphere sucked although I'll give Fayetteville a pass bc it was FREEZING!!! (last year)...we've also lost both times I've been including Casey Dick's only completed pass of his college career in Little Rock so that may have something to do with it.
Also been to Ole Miss a few times but it was pretty bland...not great, not terrible. Pulled pork nachos in the stadium are Awesome. The grove is WAY overrated.
Still yet to see Mizzou, Vandy, Kentucky
I know...TLDR but it's the off season and this is my $.02

Favorite
Baton Rouge (before the game ends and y'all show how, as a state, y'all can't handle your liquor)
Tuscaloosa
Least favorite
Fayetteville (It's a long drive there and back, win or lose)
Starkville (I have fun in Starkville because I'm with friends from both schools, but the vitriol from tGrinders can get a bit much)

FAVORITE:
1. Auburn
We went in 2012 had had a great time. The game was meh, but the Auburn fans we tailgated with were beyond friendly.
I loved the old-school atmosphere of the campus and the stadium. Almost everyone we encountered was welcoming and gracious.
FAIR:
2. Mississippi State
Same group drove to Starkville in 2013. The Student Union was nice, campus was quaint.
Stadium was ok. Game was awesome.
Only ONE thing turned me off:
We were sitting on the State side in the upper deck about halfway up. I didn't realize that some State fans were so GD SENSITIVE.
A group of Bulldog fans sat in the row behind us and proceeded to ring their cowbells. Which is TOTALLY FINE.
However, when a visiting fan DOESN'T HAVE A CLUE that someone is going to clang a bell RIGHT BEHIND HIS GODDAMN ear, and his head subsequently INVOLUNTARILY FLINCHES because he was not expecting this foreign noise RIGHT BEHIND HIS HEAD, I don't think the CLANG-ER- the Miss State fan behind me, should assume that this INVOLUNARY FLINCH was at all an INSULT TO Mississippi State, their team, university, fans, players, coaches, cheerleaders, waterboys, and the Cowbell Tradition itself.
But that's the way he took it. I could not enjoy the game because if my head moved a Septiquazillionth of a centimeter to the right or left, this was taken as an insult and thus, another round of cowbells right behind my right ear lobe, with ABSOLUTELY NO PROVACATION on my part at all.
LEAST FAVORITE/WORST
Same one I went to in 2007 and 2011, and that my friends unfortnately want to go to on November 7.
Unfortunately I cannot wear P&G there, but I can't bring myself to disguise myself in anything red either.
That's all I'm going to say.
I will say that I think I could tailgate with a few of the ones on here - Patton, sheluvs, WhiskyJohn, MelBama, RT.....

I agree with LR but you must have been knee walking drunk if that is what you thought of Fayetteville. would also agree that it's a long drive from La.

I got a dry hand job from a Mizzou girl, so I guess I like Columbia the best.

Wow, all that text for the sole purpose of trolling Ole Miss at the end. Your level of rebssession is admirable. Well done sir.

Baton Rogue- along with a great game day, great fans and unique culture; the infrequent visits and distance traveled turns every trip to LSU into an epic dumass weekend. Gambling, on to Bourbon St Friday, over to BR. Helluva weekend.
I like AU from kickoff on, they do the game right, but before & after is pretty avg.
Least: Knoxville. Full discretion- I went to every game during that 10 game losing streak to UT. Lots of pissed off late night trips out of K'ville. Haven't been back since we started winning.

I've only been to Fayetteville, Nashville, Knoxville, and Oxford.
I liked them all, didn't find Knoxville to be particularly nice but it's in a beautiful part of the country so that makes up for it.

In order from favorite to least favorite:
Vandy (I love Nashville)
LSU
Florida
Arkansas
Kentucky
Auburn
Tennessee
MSU
Ole Miss
I haven't been to UGA, USC, TAM, or Mizzou. I'm a Bama fan, so I left them off the list. There's a huge gap between UT and MSU. UF-UT are pretty even to me.

Favorite: Oxford- Absolutely love the drive and it's a really nice town. Girls are INSANE and everyone loves to have a good time. Went to a bar the night before and was greeted by a lot of friendly Ole Miss fans and we knocked back a few.
Least favorite: Knoxville- Won't badmouth Knoxville, just didn't care for it.

I haven't been to that many but I can't imagine things being worse than in Columbia, South Carolina
