Biloxi will suck for a young person unless you are really into casinos. Downtown Pensacola may be a pleasant surprise but Mobile will definitely have the most options for you. Downtown Mobile is having a mini Renaissance. Nice bar district now and art community. You get pretty good music at Soul Kitchen, Alchemy Tavern, O'Daly's and some other spots. The Saenger theater gets some national tours. Mobile is centrally located for the region as well if you are travelling. I would recommend looking at Mobile first
Seems like the best advice.
Pensacola really has a surprisingly different vibe from Mobile, considering how close they are. Whereas Mobile strikes me as about as "old south" as you get in both positive and negative ways, Pensacola is a very eclectic and particular mix of transplants from everywhere due the military presence, country folk, people moving from cold weather climates etc. It's a lot more laid back than Mobile and, like all over the mid size cities in the south, there has been a recent explosion of better restaurants and bars.
However, I'd totally agree with the post above that Mobile is (and feels like) a much bigger place and offers a lot more in terms of varied night life.

The renovated parts of downtown Pensacola are really cool

Perdido key fl, gulf breeze fl, fairhope, gulf shores, orange beach, west pensacola, east hill area pcola, north hill area pcola, downtown pcola. Explore them all, they all offer nice things , just depends on what you want the most

The Mobile or Fairhope areas would definitely be good bets especially considering that the University of South Alabama is located down there. There'll definitely be some younger professionals around that area, and it's a nice place. They're good cities with their own industries independent of the beach atmosphere, but also easily close enough to go to the beach whenever you want. They also have more permanent residents than the beach.

Ocean Springs is a cool town. If would be my choice if I had to move back to the Sip Gulf Coast.

Biloxi/Gulfport are full of old retirees
Mobile is OK but Pensacola IMO is your best bet

IMO, the gulfcoast nightlife is weak. I personally don't like Mobile at all. Sorta like Pensacola and that would be my first choice.
Having said that, I do really like Orange Beach during the summer. From spring break to labor day it is fun. Totally dead in the winter, but spring and summer is fun. Not many places to go, but doesn't matter. Every few days brings a new group of people and girls to play with.
Basically, I have lived there year round before, renting a condo for 3 months at the time in OB or GS. We would always stay in OB and Gulf Shores during the summer and have fun (even though it was the same places over and over, new people every weekend). During the winter though I would drive 45 minutes to go out in Pcola or 3 hours to go out in NOLA practically every weekend. Would end up getting a hotel a lot at 4-5am to avoid the drunk driving risk.

Son lives in Orange Beach and loves it. That's where I would suggest, he is in real estate there and could hook you up. Pm me if you need his number.

Thanks for the responses. Yeah I'm single so I'm lookin for someplace to meet people that has a decent lady/night scene.
I have heard the Mobile has more of a southern Louisiana feel to it as far as culture so it appealed to me at first but I didn't know if living in the city would be worth it or not also didn't know how Pensacola would be for people that live there, if it becomes a ghost town when the tourist leave or what.
I work for the university so I will be doing a lot of traveling to do a wide range of stuff in the region. I will have to travel to Birmingham and Jackson on occasion so I figured Mobile might be the best as far as driving goes.
How safe is downtown Mobile? I know I need to get over there and check this stuff out but just trying to get a vague outline of the area. Thanks y'all for the responses so far. I will try to keep my coonassness down to respectable levels if I move into yalls area! Haha
