@DrunkAubie: Alabama re signed a player that beat up and robbed a fellow student, signed a domestic abuser and now has one arrested for domestic violence

cm 2 is property damage between $500 and $2500, and cm 3 is property damage not exceeding $500.
Here he is charged with committing either cm 2 or cm 3
So that could be as simple as breaking someone's iPhone 6, for example?

Could be.
Though with cops called and a domestic charge, a fair assumption is that whatever he damaged was the result of a fight with his girlfriend or boyfriend.

Ryan Anderson's charge isn't for beating a woman. I've seen it explained this way:
quote:Then why wasn't the charge for Criminal Mischief and Destruction of Property instead of Domestic Violence?
quote:Hear are some general legal definitions that will help everyone understand the charge: Criminal Mischief means he damaged property valued at less than $500 dollars. Domestic Violence means the property belonged to his wife/ex-wife, girlfriend/ex-g/f, parent, child, or household member. Bottom Line: He was not arrested for hitting a woman.

NBamaAlum has explained it twice. But the Rant gonna rant. But given recent incidents, I understand running with this one.

He was. DV 3rd has subsections.
If the alleged vic is one of those set forth in the DV statute, they match up the criminal act (criminal mischief/assault/harassing communications) and that is the subsection you are charged with...

Dual arrest are pretty common.
Neighbor hears an argument. Calls cops. Cops get there. They don't observe any unlawful contact or unlawful conduct. Phone/door/wall is busted. Cops talks to both parties. Errrrrrrrrrrrybody goes to jail.
