4 > 3.
Until Urban ties the number of NC's he is number 2. He also needs to repeat or have a run similar to 3 outta 4.
But yeah, he has an argument.

He's pretty incredible.
I am curious to see if he can sustain over 5-10 years there, but I don't have much reason to think he won't. Ohio State will be great until he decides he is done.

Dude is an A-1 prick in my book...........but he is second to none in the college game.

Great coach, no doubt about it...probably on top as of this moment...
That being said, I do wonder why he had maybe his best QB 3rd on the depth chart...maybe he wasn't a practice warrior, but Jones brought a whole new dynamic to that offense...big dude that can run, hard to tackle, and has a cannon for an arm...an argument can be made that OSU's QB depth chart at the beginning of the season should've been flipped. JT Barrett was better than Miller and, arguably (since he's only had 3 games) Jones was better than Barrett. Don't think OSU wins it all if Miller doesn't get hurt as he wasn't a strong passer; might've still won it with Barrett though. Gonna be interesting to see who starts at OSU next year...with what they have returning, OSU should be the solid pre-season #1 favorite...

I'd put him at the top now.

Saban's peaked... Meyer has another 8-10 years at his prime.
Yup. The game has passed Saban by.

LULZ good luck with that. Overreacting and trashing anyone who wants to have an actual football discussion is what this board does best.

Saban is still the man and there is no disputing that....
but yeah, Urban is closing very quickly and has a longer runway now than Saban. Very impressed with tOSU this year.

Remember last year when everyone wanted to say Stoops was a better coach then Saban.

Getting to the top, he's as good as anyone in the business. Staying at the top is another issue though. UF was in a tailspin when he left.
It will be Interesting to see how it plays out when tOSU goes through a rough patch. My guess, his heart just won't be what it once was.

CUM may be you Tigers best new love, but Saban still rules the SEC and you cannot beat him on a constent basis.

no he made tosu relevant again. The rest of the big10 is still shitty. As much as i hate the sec pride shite it was much different than anything before because it was multiple teams being excellent and winning titles. the big10 is basically tosu and now michigan since they have jim. Most conferences have 1 or 2 legit teams that can win a title, the sec had 4 teams win titles.

All I know is I called this OSU victory when everyone else was lickin Oregons nuts. And frick Urban. But yeah, he good.

quote:i don't know if he can win 3/4 titles but tosu is likely to be in the hunt every year simply because the rest of the big10 is trash. His only legitimate threat is Michigan and it will probably be a couple of years before jim has them up and rolling. Michigan state is a cute little team but in the end they can't get over the hump most of the time. wisconsin is a nice team but they aren't a threat to make a real run.
He also needs to repeat or have a run similar to 3 outta 4.

That was kind of my point. Its easy (relatively) to win when everyone is hungry. Its especially easy when you walk into a program that already had a great foundation. Sustaining that over several years is the real test.

I think there is doubt that he is the best...but there is no doubt he is at a minimum in the Top 2.
What Saban has done at Bama is insane. That said, I heard someone state last night that Saban has arguably underachieved over the last two years. He has had the top recruiting class in the nation the last 6 years. He has the best talent in college football and has still managed to lose four games in the last two years.
Meyer is now in a better situation too. He will have a cakewalk into the playoff for the next two years, until Harbaugh gets Michigan up and running.
Then, as long as he beats Michigan, he will be in the playoff every year.
I could see him winning two or three more titles in his tenure at Ohio State, whereas it is hard to imagine Saban having more than one title left in the tank, given his age.
It will be fun to watch, no matter what.
