Grades weren't the issue with Liggins. He is currently at MTSU on the football team.
Do you honestly believe there is no admissions standards differences in C-USA and the SEC? Do you think DeAndre Brown (5* WR from Mississippi a while ago) wanted to play for Southern Miss over Auburn, LSU, Florida and State??

Considering admission standards for all in state schools in Mississippi are the same due to an antiquated law the "He had to go to USM instead of State because grades" argument doesn't hold water.

You can be admitted to a Mississippi university by meeting any of the following criteria:
Complete the College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) with a minimum 3.2 high school grade point average (GPA) on the CPC; or
Complete the College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) with a minimum 2.50 high school GPA on the CPC or a class rank in the top 50%, and a score of 16 or higher on the ACT* (Composite); or
Complete the College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) with a minimum 2.00 high school GPA on the CPC and a score of 18 or higher on the ACT* (Composite); or
Satisfy the NCAA standards for student athletes who are "full-qualifiers" under Division I guidelines; or
Students who do not meet the above criteria are nonetheless eligible for admission. Such students must participate, however, in an on-campus placement process at the university of their choice.

I'm pretty sure 95% of schools have the same minimum requirements to qualify. Schools like Rice, Stanford, & Notre Dame enforce stricter ones.

As far as I'm aware, no other state enforces that all colleges within the state has to abide by the same admission requirements.
We literally don't have the same choice as the schools that you've listed.
in other words....if Ole Miss decided to up it's admission standards...the state of MS would tell us "GFY, you're staying right where you are."

If you can't figure it out by reading the rest of the post you pulled that from then I cannot help you.
Just wanted to confirm that you believe the HS coach that sees him literally every day decided to defend his player and criticize your staff in spite of his excessive knowledge regarding the kid's rumored drug problem.

Yes, I'm sure that every high school coach in the State of Texas will remember this day for years to come.

Yeah, Texans operate as a hivemind when compared to other places. "Don't mess with Texas" etc.

Which is why we didn't drop a Mississippi kid.
Also, y'all are an instate school that these coaches hear about or come in contact with every day. How often do you think they see Mississippi State. Their animosity for us after this situation will not run nearly as deep as if an instate school would have done it.

Media will take this and run with it, no matter what the reasons. It's the world in which we live..

Ok, so I don't think I've said it ITT yet, but I do agree it's a pretty fricked up situation.
However, we will see how it effects us recruiting in Texas.

Wow bro don't get your panties in a wad. I've just read articles in the past few months about how coach's don't like Mullen.
