I was spit at in 01, which was my only trip there. No problems other than that. Thankfully, the frickers had terrible aim.

Unfortunately, these things are becoming more common. I haven't had any bad experiences at UGA but did have have some obnoxious folks in South Carolina. The worst was LSU. Took my wife there once and we WERE spit on. Also wore a nice cup of bourbon that was thrown at me. I would have gladly drank it had it been offered. After that game in 2010 I stopped going. I don't even attend the LSU game in T town. My wife was called awful names and we were harrassed from our parking spot over by the old basketball arena to the stadium non stop. Just not worth it. I'll watch that one on TV and not have my wife upset by a freakin football game. People won't believe this and that's fine. Lots of people have similar stories. Never had any trouble with Florida, UT or really anybody else. I wont go back to an Alabama-LSU game for a while. At least until Saban leaves. It's a shame these things happen.

It's a really good town to visit. I mean, there are negative things about Athens year round, but those problems don't really have anything to do with UGA and shouldn't dissuade people from going.

That spitting stuff is real. I've seen their fans do it at Williams Brice even. I've only been spat at 3 times. Once was a game in Athens, another time at Williams Brice when I was a kid at the game with my dad, and once when I played a team from Chile in a tournament.

The spitting is just real low brow behavior, but it's their thing, like corndogs, tigerbait, jizz jars and such.

I don't know how many of these I have to read before everyone gets that THERE ARE FANS LIKE THESE AT EVERY SCHOOL. I had my first away experience at USCe this year, it was what I expected at an SEC stadium, some very nice some going out of their way to get in my face. It doesn't make USCe fans as a whole terrible, and neither does this pussy's experience in Athens.

If you can't handle a little trash talk, then stay home. If he really was spit on (I'm shaking my head as I type), then those fans should be ashamed. I'm not gonna "change" Athens because you encountered a few bad eggs.

Auburn 2013 I witnessed a drunk AU student walk to our tailgate after the game and pour an entire drink on my friend's 65 year old father, who was 100% sober just because "he looked like he needed some cheering up".

We had 10 AU folks at our tailgate all day and 3 in the stands with us. I never heard a word. Most UGA fans are are suburban soccer dads these days. Everybody has drunk azz holes, everybody.

Not calling OP a liar, but you did something if you got all that attention.

I've never seen anyone get spit on and I've never had trouble in Athens other than their fans talking some smack the whole game. This sounds like a lot of butt hurt bull shite. The only time I've ever had any objects thrown at me was 1/9/12 in the stadium.

They do that pretty much everywhere now. It's meant to curb people bringing booze in.

A bottle with the cap off is actually a better projectile to throw at someone, or at least just as good, so that isn't the reason.

I will say one thing. If this discourages AU fans from coming to Athens, Athens is better for it.

Also, things will happen to AU fans that won't happen to other visiting fan bases because A) there are a lot of UGA fans that wouldn't piss on an Auburn fan even if he was on fire ( I may be one of these) B) something to do with firehoses.

What can I say? Although I have restrained myself so far, there is just something about orange and blue that makes me want to punch the wearer in the face. it may have something to do with the fact that more than a few of the people I disliked the most growing up ended up matriculating there. Just left a bad connotation in the brain from the get go.

ok. You haven't been to Turner Field, the Georgia Dome, or any of the other professional/college stadiums that do this? You must not be very observant since it's been a pretty common practice for almost a decade.

This is utter bullshite. Athens was BY FAR the best road trip that we've ever been on. We had nothing but a good time and the UGA fans were extremely hospitable. My wife and I partied hard Friday night with UGA fans and were on campus at 6am drinking with UGA fans and did not have a single complaint. The only negative from our trip was losing the game and having to walk out of the stadium past the rowdy UGA students who were taunting the hell out of us. But that happens everywhere is expected when dealing with drunk 18-22 year olds. Hell, I was the same way 10 years ago

I'm not saying that parts of this story may not be somewhat true, but there's no way that everything I read actually happened. Sounds like your typical butthurt Auburn fan blowing shite out of proportion to me. I've found that Auburn fans are usually the source of most mythical terrible fan tales.
