Blake Sims at Home

Last night, during halftime of one of the MAC games, a commentator was breaking down a Blake Sims play. He pointed out that, prior to the play, you can see Lane Kiffin gesturing to Sims, making an adjustment to the play to open Cooper up against the defense. The play appeared to be at Brian-Dennehy stadium
I also watched the Blake Sims film from the LSU game, and it appears that, on every play, Sims is staring down his receiver. He does not appear to look to a second receiver unless he is scrambling.
These two bits of intel made me wonder about a few things. First, does Blake Sims struggle with reading a defense and going through his progressions? Second, is Kiffin on the sidelines, rather than in the booth, because the sidelines enable him to read the defense for Sims and make the necessary adjustments? Third, does being at home allow Kiffin to communicate more effectively with Sims, thus allowing Sims to perform better at home?
If these things are accurate, what is the best way for a defensive coordinator to take advantage of these weaknesses? Disguising coverages, so that Kiffin is unable to anticipate correctly? Play zone, so that the DBs can read Sims's eyes?
I look forward to the usual intelligent debate.

When you only have one to throw to, it is not staring down.

Did you release your findings to the coaching staff after your film session?

Wow man you should delete your post before people start thinking you don't know football

I would say the best thing you can do is what defenses try to do to Peyton Manning. They show one thing and try to shift into another look seconds before he snaps the ball...but if they tip their hand at all early enough for him to catch he will make them pay, a la Kiffin with Sims.

First, Bama has 16 different receivers with a catch this year. AU has 14. MSU has 17. That's not "only have one to throw to".
Second, Amari Cooper is the best WR in the country this year. He's a mismatch against any single coverage. Throwing to him works more often than not. Why would you NOT throw his way as much as the D allows?
Finally, the whole "staring down" argument is usually made when people don't fully understand route concepts. Usually, a QB has a hi-low read on one side of the field (or a low-hi read). If that is not open he then works his way across to his other reads. USUALLY, a QB has two reads on one side of the field so what looks like staring down a single receiver is actually reading two. Not always the case - and may not be the case with Sims - but to assume that he only looks at one receiver shows a fairly elementary football knowledge.

See Chris Jones and DeAndrew White on last drive and OT vs. LSU.
On the last 2 drives he completed 6 passes. 0 of them were to Amari.

Go on a message board and seek the opinion of people who have only coached a fantasy football team

Not true, I have coached many an NCAA Football 20xx team.

If you'll look at the difference in offensive efficiency between home and away games, you can tell that communication between Sims and Kiffin is vastly different. IMO, Alabama has a lot more flexibility with it's play selections in the friendly confines of BDS. Good news!...we're home for the rest of the season.

I would think that Sims having to rely on communication from Kiffin, rather than reading it himself, would slow the processing of information and make disguising easier.

It must suck never knowing what you're talking about, but oddly enough that never seems to stop you from making shitty posts.

Actually it's great. You can post with impunity.

Based on? Him looking to the sideline before the snap? Does Dak not do the same thing?

Do you think the improved communication is about reading the defenses and making adjustments? I would think that's much easier when the crowd is quiet.
