Guys, don't do this to yourselves.
New Year's Eve Will Be So Awesome

New Year's Eve will be so boring,
Watching Bama extend its dynasty.
Interesting is not an option,
So plan accordingly.

Does Bama move up with a loss to MSU?
Posted by Legacy on 11/12/15 at 1:20 pm
Right now, Bama is ranked second with a loss to un-ranked Ole Miss. In my opinion, a loss to 17th-ranked Mississippi State would substantially improve the average quality of Bama's losses and justify a jump over first-place Clemson, which has no quality losses at all.
So this weekend's match-up is a win-win for Bama.

Is Mullen still allowed to "coach" on Saturday, or did he lose his accreditation?

Why did he put "coach" in quotation marks?

I was saving this for Monday. You ruined it.

If you'll look at the difference in offensive efficiency between home and away games, you can tell that communication between Sims and Kiffin is vastly different.
Do you think the improved communication is about reading the defenses and making adjustments? I would think that's much easier when the crowd is quiet.

if they tip their hand at all early enough for him to catch he will make them pay, a la Kiffin with Sims
I would think that Sims having to rely on communication from Kiffin, rather than reading it himself, would slow the processing of information and make disguising easier.
Blake Sims at Home

Last night, during halftime of one of the MAC games, a commentator was breaking down a Blake Sims play. He pointed out that, prior to the play, you can see Lane Kiffin gesturing to Sims, making an adjustment to the play to open Cooper up against the defense. The play appeared to be at Brian-Dennehy stadium
I also watched the Blake Sims film from the LSU game, and it appears that, on every play, Sims is staring down his receiver. He does not appear to look to a second receiver unless he is scrambling.
These two bits of intel made me wonder about a few things. First, does Blake Sims struggle with reading a defense and going through his progressions? Second, is Kiffin on the sidelines, rather than in the booth, because the sidelines enable him to read the defense for Sims and make the necessary adjustments? Third, does being at home allow Kiffin to communicate more effectively with Sims, thus allowing Sims to perform better at home?
If these things are accurate, what is the best way for a defensive coordinator to take advantage of these weaknesses? Disguising coverages, so that Kiffin is unable to anticipate correctly? Play zone, so that the DBs can read Sims's eyes?
I look forward to the usual intelligent debate.

Can a Game Manager Win the Heisman?
Posted by Legacy on 10/27/14 at 4:21 pm
Last year, AJ McCarron was pigeon-holed as a game manager and never really got the Heisman attention he deserved. It seems that the Heisman voters prefer a game changer to a game manager.
Last week, Bo Wallace began to receive some Heisman hype. But Bo Wallace, like AJ McCarron, just consistently manages the offense well and doesn't make the type of mistakes that lose ball games, particularly in rivalry games. For the last two weeks, he's even completed almost 50% of his passes against two of the toughest teams in the SEC.
Will Bo Wallace continue to get the Heisman attention
he deserves, or will he be pigeon-holed as a game manager?

re: UAB will beat Arkansas

UAB had 2.08 times as many passing yards on MSU as Auburn did. Therefore, we should expect that UAB will have 2.08 times as many passing yards on Arkansas as Auburn did.
UAB will have 610 passing yards on Arkansas. QED. Or, as you rubes might say, that there's math.

Does UAB have the most potent offense in Alabama?

UAB v. State - UAB scores 34
Auburn v. State - Auburn scores 23
South Alabama v. State - USA scores 3
Alabama v. State - Alabama will score < 34
