@aubreyrbloom: Brent Z asked why scheduling is so far in advance, nobody here may be here in ten years. Sumlin interrupts and says "Speak for yourself."

What I would give for him to stay his whole career here

For some reason I always get pulled into that discussion even though the contract is clear.
Its all just misplaced hope and fear.

I kind of wonder if the SECN money is really all its cracked up to be if A&M will simply keep upping his contract to keep him around.

Charlie Strong is the 2nd highest paid coach in college football

Stupid irrelevant older bro still living in moms basement wanted to pay Charlie 5 mil to match us. So pathetic. You know they could have gotten him for less

We'll take him if you guys get tired of him.

The NFL question has never made sense to me, as far as the money goes. If you make $5M, what the hell difference does another $2M make unless you plan on retiring in a few years? (And he clearly doesn't.) On the other hand, maybe that's why I'm not a millionaire.
The challenge bit I sort of get, but I think Sumlin genuinely enjoys recruiting. I just can't see him leaving college for the pros.

I'd say Petrino to SC would be great for you guys but he signed that contract with the huge buy out.
How many years do you think before Spurrier retires?

I think 2017 will be his last year unless he either
A: Wins a championship
B: Has a total team collapse and we have a terrible season
In which case it could be earlier.

He will be back on top next year, I don't see how this year is anything but a fluke.
It seems to me y'all don't have much depth at quarterback. You will have a very youthful player at QB next year, am I right? If so, that could be a problem.

I hope Spurrier finds a way to work Conner Mitch into some plays during the Furman and USA games. I honestly have no idea about him because I've been on board with Thompson.
I'm still not sure what to think of Thompson. He makes great plays, and then the next drive you're sitting back thinking "What the hell did I just watch?".

They pay the head coach of Iowa 4 mil?

Ferentz was humongous when that contract was signed
Posted on 9/30/14 at 5:12 pm to WestCoastAg
and the amazing thing about it is that it's fully guaranteed through like 2020 so they can't even fire him (which they should).
quote:
Things haven’t always been this bad for Ferentz. Just four years after taking over for Hayden Fry in 1999, Ferentz had built an Iowa team that, from 2002 through 2004, went 31-7 while collecting two Big Ten titles. Things then cooled off for a bit, but after an 11-2 season in 2009, which ended with an Orange Bowl victory over Georgia Tech, Ferentz was rewarded with a massive ten-year, $35 million contract to keep him in Iowa City for the long term.
The first problem that has arisen for Iowa is that Ferentz’s performance has fallen off since signing that new deal. In the four-plus subsequent seasons, Iowa is just 29-25. And the second problem, as I briefly highlighted in a recent story on head coach buyouts, is that Ferentz’s contract just so happens to include one of the costliest buyouts in college football.
If Iowa were to fire Ferentz for convenience, the school would continue to owe him 75% of his annual guaranteed salary for the remaining years in his contract. That might not seem so bad when compared to a coach like Randy Edsall, who is ensured the full value of his contract with Maryland, but Ferentz’s five-plus remaining contract years mean there is a lot of salary left to pay.
