I'm pretty confident we'll move the ball effectively against USC with our receivers, backs and offensive line, the question will be whether or not we can avoid turning it over. Hill only had 16 INTs and 4 fumbles in nearly 50 games as a HS starter but he is a young guy making his first start on the road.
I think SC wins a game that combines for around 75-80 points.
Nah. I predict Spurrier to use the Clemson formula. Lots of running, lots of dink and dunk passing and lots of clock control. Prevented Clemson's strong offense from ever getting momentum or establishing themselves. In the case of A&M it'll keep our exposed DB off the field.

Isn't that where all the Confederate flag dust up was going on? Why would a non-Southern school be around all that? Aggie gone git caught up in a controversy.

TOP is gonna be around 40-20

Hate to hear about another injury and hope he makes a full recover, but Hill is going to go off.

Maybe, but there is no reason to assume that will be the case. Your defense, which was 20th last year in total defense and below two teams we shredded (Bama and MSU), lost more starters than any in the conference.

we shredded
Yeah and the QB, WR and one of your best OL who were a part of that shredding are gone.

Fine, USC still lost more on defense than we did on offense.

I'm thinking that RSJ, Speedy, and Kennedy are going to have a field day.

It also didn't hurt that Clemson, you know, turned the ball over SIX TIMES
It's pretty amazing they still gained 350 yards all things considered. If you want to factor in six turnovers by our offense into your prediction, I guess I cant stop you.

On the individual level I hate it for him.
On the grander scheme of things I can't help but be happy? ( happy isn't the right word. ) regarding anything that directly or indirectly helps my team.
*edit*
I'd venture to say most of you degenerates feel the same.

Was 5 starters more than any defense in the conference?
And you think our losses on defense are more significant than aTm's losses on offense?

In fact, looking at the stats there was really nothing special about that defensive performance versus Clemson outside of the turnovers. They gained 352 yards, averaged 6.3 yards per play, were 6-11 on third down, averaged 4.5 YPC and 12 yards per completion. With even just three turnovers Clemson probably hits 500 yards.
Given my post was simply about moving the ball IF we don't turn it over, I see no reason why that game should alter my thinking.

During our 5 game win streak:
Time of Possession - SC - CU
2009 - 36:31 - 23:29
2010 - 34:43 - 25:17
2011 - 37:17 - 22:43
2012 - 39:58 - 20:02
2013 - 38:09 - 21:51
Average margin of victory: 16.8 points

That's not a good injury. Sorry for the loss. So that makes 3 and 4 wide sets interesting from a matchup perspective.

We were 118th in average TOP last year and had the best offense in the SEC. TOP doesn't mean shite in our offense
Another site puts us a little higher at like 26 mins/game. Regardless, we've won games by 40 or 50 points where we've lost the TOP battle. South Carolina winning it by 5-10+ minutes is probably the surest thing about this game

2009: Clemson - 3 turnovers, USC - 1
2010: Clemson - 3 turnovers (and their team was awful), USC - 0
2011: Clemson - 1 turnover, USC - 0
2012: Clemson - 2 turnovers, USC - 1
2013: Clemson - 6 turnovers, USC - 0
So during the five game win streak, Clemson has committed 15 turnovers to USC's 2. That's over a SEVEN TO ONE ratio over five seasons, a stat so absurd I wouldn't believe it if you told me. Outside of 2011, Clemson still moved the ball fairly effectively when they didn't turn it over. You always win the TOP battle because they turn the ball over at an almost unbelievable pace against your team. The fact that you didn't win by 4-5 scores last year says as much about your inability to capitalize on their mistakes as it does about their ineptitude. The average margin of victory over the last 25 years when a team wins the TO margin by five or more is 29.6, yet you were tied with Clemson last year four minutes into the 4th quarter.
There is no denying that Clemson chokes on dick when they play USC and you guys own them, but counting on that kind of turnover margin isn't realistic. It's an (incredible) statistical anomaly.

Wasn't Smith a RB last year? Don't think this hurts as bad as you cocks think. You still have Chris Lammons and that kid is one of the best I've ever seen in person. Especially considering all he's been through.

That's what happens when you dick stomp a poor bastard.
In all seriousness, hope he mends quick.
I see a high scoring game next week.

Exactly. So the 6 TOs from Clemson last year weren't a fluke. They were a part of a 5 year trend that has led to their domination.
You think bringing a new QB in hostile territory without your star WR of the past couple of years won't lead to turnovers?
eta: Why do you think we've had so few turnovers? Because outside of a few bombs we've done lots of running and lots of the quick and short routes. It has allowed us to control the pace and it's enabled to be in the lead or tied for almost the entire time during this 5 game streak so we've never had to come from behind that would require more risk. No reason we won't use the exact same formula against A&M.

So an already inexperienced group of players lose a potential starter? That sucks for USCe
