Overrated and Underrated SEC Teams 2014

I don't remember ever going into a season where I felt like the general consensus and media has missed the mark this badly.
My top overrated and underrated teams going into 2014
Underrated:
1. TAMU-I don't get this one at all. Did everyone forget what Sumlin did prior to Johnny Football? TAMU couldn't get any worse on defense and returns arguably the top O-Line in the SEC with skill players out the arse. Ranking them below the Mississippi schools is beyond retarded
2. LSU-ONE question and that's it. QB. Don't talk WR because LSU is more than fine there. Miles has won a lot of football games with marginal talent at QB (anyone remember Jordan freaking Jefferson?). They are far too talented not to win a lot of football games.
3. Arkansas-No, they aren't going to win the SEC. But they aren't going 0-8 again either. The O-Line should start coming together and their backfield is staaaaaaacked. If they can get marginal QB play, they could win 4 SEC games or more. We laugh at Bert (and I can't stand his fat arse)but it takes longer to implement his type of system. Flukes don't last for half a decade. He is a good coach.
4. Mizzou-Seriously underappreciated coach in Pinkel...strong returning O-Line...yes, defensive losses and they won't be winning the East again but any idea that they will just suck next year, with their talent on the offensive side of the ball is crap
5. UF-granted, a lot are talking about this but few are saying they could contend for the East. I think they can have an Auburn-like turnaround on offense and winning breeds winning. If things start going well, and they start believing, UF has the talent to beat anyone on their schedule. I don't THINK they'll win the East this year...mainly because I think they will struggle on the line of scrimmage, and probably have a slow start, but it is definitely possible. I want Martez Ivey so I hope they fall flat on their face but they probably won't.Otherwise, I'd be rooting for their turnaround.
Overrated:
1. Ole Miss-In our game last year, I remember thinking a. they suck at the line of scrimmage...totally overmatched by Auburn b. Treadwell and Nkemdiche are very overrated (whoever voted Treadwell over Sammy Coates for All -SEC needs to be double bitch slapped) c. Wallace is ok at times but is not a top-tier SEC QB. This year, they lose a lot of their O Line. MSU's DL is going to stomp a mudhole in Ole Miss...so will Auburn, and anyone else with good talent on the DL
2. UGA-I don't think UGA will be bad but your QB situation is no good...which marginalizes a serious strength (one hell of a WR corps) and your OL is very questionable which marginalizes another serious strength (RB). I may end up eating my words here because you never really know who is going to step up...but I think they finish 3rd behind USC and UF in the East. Maybe even 4th behind Mizzou.
3. Tennessee-I know no one is expecting much out of Tennessee. Well I'm here to tell you...expect less. Tennessee is going to suck monkey balls. They suck nearly everywhere...a couple of decent running backs...which doesn't matter at all with what amounts to a conference USA 2nd string OL trying to open holes for them. Decent WR's which also doesn't matter at all because Worley will be, by far, the worst starting QB in the SEC...and he will get pulled for someone worse mid-season. All new DL when the old one wasn't very good to begin with. Will be so bad that the recruiting class will start jumping ship in droves out of embarrassment.

In our game last year, I remember thinking that if Tyler Campbell doesn't shank a punt in the Auburn endzone, we win.

I think his greatest accomplishment was beating OSU in 2009, and almost being a BCS buster in 2011 but coughing it up to Southern Miss int he C-USA championship game.

Pretty good analysis.
Disagree on TAMU, they are going to suck, they lost a lot more than just JFF.
Agree on OM and UGA, Rebs have talent but Hugh Freeze isn't ready for prime time. I could see UGA finishing middle of the pack and Richt hanging it up.

I agree with everything but A&M. You say people forget what Sumlin did before Manziel. Well what did he do? Zero BCS appearances and zero conference championships.
Your Tennessee assessment is spot on too, I heard some guy on Sirius 91 the other day saying they will be a surprise team, even though they replace everyone on both lines.

I think UGA is the favorite to win the east, I wouldn't call them overrated, even though I think they lose at least 2 games.
USC is the most overrated team in the SEC. Lost Connor Shaw, Ellington, 3/4 of their DLine, both CB's, and somehow they're "better" this year and will win the east, when they didn't last year? Not buying it.

So we are picked to finish fourth in the west and that's "overrated?" That's hardly rated to begin with.

Agree on Georgia as well, when you lose a 4 year starter your offense will take a step back. I've seen a lot of previews that say Mason just has to hand it off to Gurley. That's not going to be enough to win the East.

How are their WRs "more than fine" based on what we know? I think the jury is still out on that group.

By the way, good lists.
I think Mizzou has another good year, perhaps not win the East good, but good, and maybe people will start to see that Pinkel can coach.

LSU is a complete crap shoot this year. If new guys do well then LSU outperforms expectations - if not then underperforms... I do trust Miles and company to squeeze the most out of this squad but not sure what kind of learning experiences are looming and whether those are losses or just ugly wins...

Your point about the OL is legitimate, but you are way off on Huston Mason.
In his two starts vs Georgia Tech (road) and Nebraska (road), his numbers are better than Thompson and Mauk.
Mason's first two starts are on the road and threw for 300+ in each game.

Masons 2 starts were better then Mauk's and Thompson's
Richt rarely has a bad QB and with the offense that surrounds him, Mason doesn't need to be great

I agree with all but Arkansas and Florida. Arkansas won't do well enough to consider tem underrated, they wil finish last in the west and accurately rated.
Florida because the last 2 weeks everyone has gotten a sudden surge of confidence Florida is a surprise team. So while I think they're much better than last year idk that id call them "underrated".

Typical "little brother" syndrome...

What do some of you Ole Miss fans not understand about being overrated? You say the media picked you fourth, well he thinks you'll finish 6th. That equals overrated, and I agree.

You smoking crack or trolling on that? We are so far from overrated it's funny.
And don't be fooled when it comes to recruiting, our recruits know full well what to expect this year. They haven't been sold a bill of goods. They've been sold on restoring UT to greatness and joining last years class. But more than anything they've been sold on the energy and optimistic outlook Jones and Co. bring - they're exceedingly likable whether you want to admit that or not. Even those who turned us down last year, like UGA's RB Nick Chubb told the AJC this year that Jones was the hardest to turn down (and not because of salesmanship). I've never witnessed such a close team as we are now and the recruiting classes are the same way.
IOW, don't hold your breath on us having a lot of players jump ship. They're responding to the environment and potential.
