Buddy of mine and I are having a debate at work... who's the better option at rb: CG or CAP. He swears Corey weighs more than CAP which just doesn't seem possible.

CAP with Grant being a change up guy like he was last year

Corey will have more "impressive"and "flashy" numbers like YPC, some huge games with 150+ yards and such but CAP serves a purpose. Corey is not a workhorse and CAP is. It w ill be similar to the GurshAll deployment of Gurley and Marshal at UGA in that Marshal puts up some crazy YPC and has huge games (when not injured) but isn't the featured back
That is what I heard. Peyton Barber also has performed very well in practice if he can ever stay healthy

My impression was CAP and Peyton would rotate similarly to Tre and CAP last year early in the season. I still just can't imagine seeing CG as an every down back. If he is, great. Just don't see it

CG is awesome, and a very crucial dynamic of our offense, at playing the sweep role of our offense (in my opinion, better than O-Mac ever was). He is simply not built to be an every down back

IMHO CG wins the job and gets the most carries.

CAP will likely be the primary guy. I think Corey's role will be expanded a bit and he will be a slightly more traditional running back as opposed to just a speed back.

be is bigger than mason was last year. if grant can develop a between the tackles run game, he could be an every down back.

CAP. But if no one really takes a hold of the job, I wouldn't be shocked to see Roc get a shot. Keith said he looks significantly bigger than he did before he reported.
ETA: I don't see CG being an every down guy because IMO he doesn't have the lateral quickness to dart through the line and make people miss in contained areas. CAP and Tre (especially Tre) are good and getting skinny and getting past the first defender inside

It's not a question of size or strength. Gus said multiple times last offseason that CG was, pound for pound, arguably the strongest player on the team. His game is just not suited for being an every down back. Great burst, straight line speed, can even shed some arm tackles in the open field. But running every down between the tackles is an entirely different ball game. Can't fault CG, as he is really good at what he brings us, and without him, running between the tackles would be much tougher as defenses have to respect his speed.

Buddies of mine that work with the team swear up and down Grant is bigger and faster than CAP now.

This.
And both will be drafted IMO.

Has everyone gave up on Barber. I was hearing strong praise for him earlier this year.
Did his one play fumble/injury in the spring game kill everyones hopes

I think the concern with Barber is durability issues. That was the knock on him coming out of HS. It was encouraging to hear Trey say that Barber was the most complete back on the roster. I am quite sure he will get his shot to be the primary guy this season.

I sorta lump CAP and Barber together I guess. They are in the Ben Tate mold whereas I always looked at Grant as an O-Mac. But, if what we're hearing about CG is true, holy hell he could be wiked

Grant is bigger and faster than CAP. That is a fact. However like someone else mentioned Grant isn't the type of runner to be patient sit behind blocks find a whole break a tackle then make someone miss at the next level. That's what CAP does. Grants more of a see the hole and hit it or get to the outside guy. I agree Grants role will be larger this year but CAP will still be the every down back. Someone should post that run CAP had in the SECCG it was a thing of beauty.

He's not bigger.

CAP; Grant will get his, though.
Peyton Barber, I repeat again like I said when he committed, will be a beast for us.
