Out of all the new starting QB's the SEC will have this season, Who do yall think will shine, and who will dissapoint. Also throw in a surprise QB this season.

List of the new starters that i am aware of as of now:

Alabama: Jacob Coker
LSU: Anthony Jennings or Brandon Harris
Georgia: Hutson Mason
USC: Dylan Thompson
Mizzou: Maty Mauk
A&M: Kyle Allen or Kenny Hill*
Vandy: Stephen Rivers or Robinson(think that's who it is)

If i'm missing someone please mention who it is.

The 3 i think who will shine this year are Mauk, Thompson, and Coker. We've seen plenty of the first 2, but i think Coker will be an improvement after a few SEC games under his belt, and has potential to be a big time QB in the SEC.

The one who i think will dissapoint will be Jennings, and I think we'll see plenty of Harris before this years over.

Shiners in bold. Disappointments left unchecked.

Coker has the most talent of any QB that Saban has had at Alabama. If he can take care of the football, he could turn the offense into a monster. He has so many weapons to work with.

Matt Joeckel transferred to TCU a few months ago.
It'll be Kyle Allen or Kenny Hill.

Patrick Towles (likely starter)

Reese Phillips (dark horse)

Drew Barker (will probably redshirt)

Dont believe Mason, Coker or Jennings will shine this year. Manage games? maybe, but not shine.

My favorites to be stand out Qb newcomers are Thompson and Maty Mauk

Hell no Coker won't start over me.

Serious note, Coker will be alright. Has good wheels to escape the pocket and buy more time, good arm, good receivers around him, great RBs. Just needs to work on his chemistry with the receivers and let the oline gel together.

People will continue to be surprised a QB guru such as Petrino thought Brandon Allen was an elite QB.

Alabama: Jacob Coker

Better chance to disappoint relative to expectations. The only way he can truly fail is to turn the ball over too much and if Kiffin puts him in bad positions. I don't think he's going to be an abject failure, but I think he'll be a disappointment to the Bama fans that expect him to be 1st or 2nd team All-SEC.

LSU: Anthony Jennings or Brandon Harris

Disappointment. Jennings looked awful last season in his lone start. Not bad, he looked awful. That was with Jeremy Hill, Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry. I think he'll be a disappointment and we'll see Harris. I don't know enough about Harris to make a judgment, but having Cameron at OC won't hurt.

Georgia: Hutson Mason

Better chance to shine. I don't think he'll light the world on fire, but he's not going to be a disappointment. Richt has coached at UGA for 13 seasons. There's been "bad" QB play in 2 of those seasons. One with a freshman at QB/senior walk-on and one with Joe Cox. Cox wasn't even atrocious, he just turned the ball over way too much. Cox reminds me of Bo Wallace, but in drastically different offenses. Cox also didn't get the benefit of the RBs and talented depth at WR like we have now. We also know more about Mason than we did about Cox coming into their RS Sr. years - he's attempted three times as many passes and started two games against bowl teams. Mason will be fine.
quote:

USC: Dylan Thompson

Definitively shine. Thompson will shine. He's got a lot of talented surrounding him and one of the best QB coaches in the game. The Mizzou game was bad last year, but Mizzou also had a nasty DL and it was at Mizzou. He destroyed Clemson a couple years ago.
quote:

Mizzou: Maty Mauk

Better chance to disappoint. As impressive as his run was, he didn't beat a single team with a winning record. He loses his top 3 WRs, the starting RB, and starting TE. I'm not saying he can't shine, but I'll just have to see it with my own eyes. Mizzou hasn't done well in conference play under Pinkel after they won 10 games the prior year - I don't expect that trend to randomly change in the SEC.
quote:

A&M: Kyle Allen or Kenny Hill*

Better chance to shine. Can honestly say I don't know enough about either to make a legitimate judgment. I know aTm has a ton of offensive talent and employ an offensive system that is conducive to QB success. I also know that whoever wins this job has to replace Johnny Football, which won't be easy in and of itself.
quote:

Vandy: Stephen Rivers or Robinson

Disappointment. Or Robinette, right? If Rivers couldn't beat out Harris, I wouldn't expect much. Robinette (beat us, which was pitiful) looked pretty bad last year. He even threw Shaq Wiggins a pick 6. I think McCrary wins the job. He's the most talented. I just don't think he has the necessary talent around him to win as a RS Fr.
