So what does UGA's two-deep for the secondary look like for 2014, if I may inquire? Was Matthews expected to be a major factor, or was this just the inevitable subway train on it's way?

I like the starting lineup under Pruitt's tutelage:

CB Swann
CB Whoever wins the job???
S Mauger
S Moore
NB JJ Green

The back ups?

Tray was nothing but hype!! He was supposed to be a ball hawk safety who could lay the wood....more like trigga tray shooting blanks!!

He was always hurt, but when he did play, I never saw anything good from him (granted he was a freshman). JHC leaving is the one that hurts the most, the dude was a playmaker.

My guess (includes newcomers)

CB : Swann / Dawson
CB : Sanders or Wilkerson or Davis

Star (nickel) : Green / Dawson
Money (dime) : Fenteng / Dawson

S: Moore / Redd or Terry
S: Parrish / Mauger

I think Parrish is a special player who could play any DB spot. The staff likes Sanders a lot. Fenteng has good size and is a good fit inside. He could play corner too. Aaron Davis is a wildcard. I think Dawson will kind of be a utility man who will play a lot.

We also have Devin Bowman, Kennar Johnson, and Shaq Jones available. Trintan Askew is a pretty good walk-on in case of emergency.

Heard that Trey told a professor to fock off. This was after the prof had asked him to shut up.

Really interested to see Sanders, Parrish and Fenteng. I ALWAYS forget about Sanders.

Our secondary is going to suck dick. Anthing that involves Mauger is going to be trash. Sorry, next year is going to suck.

I personally think Mauger will be a very solid safety with Pruitt at the helm.

Good talent, but not much experience. Hopefully, a decent coaching job will cover some of what we're lacking.

SOunds like both UGA and USC are in the same boat in talent/experience. We're in a good place with both DC Ward and DBC Brown coaching up our DBs, but it will be pretty young and green along the edges. The interior safety spots should be OK however...

The start of the 2014 season may be an interesting ride for both fanbases....

One of the two fan bases won't be happy after week 3, that's for sure.

Pruitt needs to scale back on the 4-2-5. All of the talent and depth is in the the front 7.

Talent has taken a hit at the safety spots. We are alright at CB unless another priority guy gets hurt, dismissed, etc.

FIFY

Seriously, we won't be winning much with a second rate backfield. We couldn't even do it with a good one. Pruitt may be good, but a good coach isn't going to perform miracles.

Louisville's starting safeties in its 2015 opener vs. Auburn could very well be the two who gave up the "Miracle on the Plains"

NO, you can't fix lack of speed and awareness.

All we have done is given Pruitt a built in excuse for why our Defense didn't perform in year one. Well with all the attrition you see it was a transition year.

You can fix awareness... that is teachable... you can also fix speed by running and mechanics drills...which they are doing... you can help speed by teaching angles and positioning... you can help speed by the defensive call and the responsibility. You can diminish the other teams speed advantage by taking away passing lanes at the LOS and knocking WRs off their routes at the LOS...

I'm just ready for the year one excuses to roll out. I'm sure they did all the same drills with Grantham. Then we just took Langley and put him on offense because they obviously couldn't make him a decent player in the backfield so what makes you think they are going to magically make Mauger and some of these other guys Serviceable. I just don't see it. This season is setting up to be really bad.
