re: 3 months from today will Mike Davis run for 200+ yards against the Aggies?

No, Sherman left nothing on defense outside of the seniors for the 2012 season. Which is why Sumlin had a good defense with those players and a rough one having to play true freshman all over the place.
You mean to tell me that true freshmen aren't successful in the SEC?

if they are badass, true freshman can be successful
if they are just good, then they can improve in yr 2 after they get stronger and learn the speed of the game

So I guess this statement you made is false:
No. I didn't say he left Sumlin NO defensive firepower, I said he left him almost none. But I presume from your decision to follow this pedantic line of objection, you've acknowledged my main point, which is that when Snyder had some talent to work with in 2012, he fielded a pretty good defense.

One true freshman playing alongside 10 RS-Seniors would most likely be much more successful than 11 true freshman, would you agree?
Freshman tend to make more mistakes, the more that are playing, the more mistakes are being made even if they flash ability. Even Clowney wasn't starting as a freshman and he just went #1 overall after 3 years.

I guess this is the disconnect between my opinion and that of aggy land. The defense I saw against Duke is not one that can beat South Carolina on the road in the first game of the year. All you will have done is go through a few weeks of spring and summer practice.

Senior talent, not sophomore talent.

The primary point from Aggies is that the A&M defense is now different from the Duke game in 2 ways:
1. Added experience
2. Added TALENT
1. Added experience
2. Added TALENT

The defenders Sumlin is putting together, as a group, are more talented than the seniors Sherman left him in 2012. I'll readily concede that the 2012 senior experience can still outweigh the talent edge of the 2014 sophs. But I've never claimed the 2014 defense will be as good as the 2012. Just that there's ample evidence that Snyder can field a significantly better defense than what he did in 2013.
Some players "click" faster than others. Darian Claiborne (who was suspended for the Chicken Bowl) was one of those. The aforementioned Jonathnan Stewart was another. JStew the freshman wasn't half the player JStew the senior, or even junior was.

That second-half Duke D was enough to do the job.
The problem is you are expecting a hole in the ground on offense, when we will probably lead the SEC in many categories by the end of the season.

This. This. This.
But it was a given.

True freshmen that started at least 1 game in 2013
LB Darian Claiborne (returning starter)
LB Jordan Mastrogiovanni (projected starter)
DL Isaiah Golden (returning starter)
DL Hardreck Walker
DL Jay Arnold
DL Daeshon Hall
DB Alex Sezer
DB Noel Ellis
2 more true freshman DBs played

Texas A&M allowed at least 200 rushing yards in nine out of thirteen games in 2013 and once in thirteen games in 2012, if that statistic helps.

200 I doubt it but our backfield will possibly get that much. I'm personally looking for David Williams our RSFR rb to make a name for himself in this game along with Brandon wilds. Bottom line is this team will be stacked on offense even with the departure of connor shaw and ellington.
First game of the yr at the brice aggy is going to have a steep mountain to climb just my opinion.

Most likely Spurrier will bust out the passing game early with Thompson, and jump out to a huge lead. The plan will be to run the clock and keep TAMU's offense off the field in the 2nd half, so Davis will get a majority of his workload then, but USC may be up by so many TDs by then that the carries may be spread out to Davis, Wilds, Carson, and Williams. So Davis may not get that high a total...
I can see something like 100-120 rushing yds, plus 50+ receiving yds though....

The Aggies Defense will be improved. The offense, and I know this is stating the obivious, has some big holes to fill. LSU is almost in the same boat. The defense will be better, but the season will hinge on how the young incoming talent developes. I see aTms' season playing out the same way.
