Do those people know how long it takes for a police officer to show up to the scene of a crime?
I'll give you a hint...it's after it has happened.

People use that "30,000 people die from Gun Violence every year" fact like that's a big number.
30,000/313 million = 0.0096%

30,000/313 million = 0.0096%

It'd be more if there was gun control..

Not to mention that half of that number is suicides.

and violence by criminals with illegal firearms.

Cops aren't there to prevent crime they are there to write the report and punish the person who committed a crime

It amazes me how dumb people can be.

This. And the truth is, in a police state, only the government and criminals have guns; a scary thought.

It doesn't amaze me. Look at the people put into office to represent them.

liberals are too stupid to understand that cops are minutes away when seconds count and that takings guns from the good guys is a bad idea.

If politicians want to help they can focus on the economy. It is directly related to crime. One goes up the other goes down.

the Bill of Rights is a beautiful thing, people can protest without fear of retribution in this land.
What's needed is more stringent enforcement of laws on the books.
Foreigners and first generation immigrants should have to hold a valid permit in order to have any firearm in the USA.
This would eliminate about 2/3 of the crimes committed. IMO

Neither side is capable of having a sensible debate on the topic.

Not really.
2011 Federation of American Scientists study
Recent USDOJ study
Both these (FAS is left-leaning, DOJ is obviously LE/right leaning) studies say there's really not an easily identifiable correlation between the economy and crime rates. There's just a lot more to it.
Really, IMO it comes down to the simple fact that people with a good moral compass are going to try and do what's right and thus will not commit crime regardless of their personal economic situation and on the other hand thugs gonna thug.

No I think people shooting at other people who started shooting first is a great idea. I cant believe we have any gun crimes.
