He's got a point here, we did win the national championship under this standard. We don't want that taken away from us.

It was an upset and I was ecstatic we won. The better team doesnt always win. Happens all the time across all sports.

Why do fans of other schools concern themselves with what Texas A&M University chooses to pay its head football coach?

Not trying to be glib, but I could not care less what other schools pay their coaches. I assume other universities make decisions, based on what they perceive to be best for their program.

Texas A&M does the same.

It's kind of a duh/der topic, ya know?

I just find it funny that y'all will be paying big money for no real accomplishments other than inheriting, from Mike Sherman, a once in a life time player.

His bosses don't agree with you that he hasn't accomplished anything.
The university wanted to publicly show its commitment to their head coach.
That's the sum of it.
According to the PTB, they don't want the distraction of his name brought up each year as a possible replacement for whomever.
Bottom line: Those who make these decisions like the program he's building, and they decided to reward him for that.

Ok, sure.
Characterize it however.
No skin off my nose.
Sumlin's going to get paid, that's what I know.
Couldn't happen to a better family.
