I understand Bama was hoping to get Stidham to replace Town, but he just committed to Texas Tech, via his twitter account.

I did favor him as Town's replacement but wish him the best of luck in Lubbock.

If we ever play Texas Tech our season has gone so poorly that the result of the contest does not matter.

I wouldn't say I called it

Its been known for a while he was going to end up in either Lubbock or Waco and the odds were it would be Lubbock. I'm just happy it was actually tech and not Baylor

Ricky Town's early commitment is really fricking Alabama right now. Stidham threw at the same camp as Town last summer and probably would have got an offer then if the staff didn't think Town was going to commit.

Now my hopes lie with Brady White. He's probably staying on the West Coast so I hope Bama passes on a QB this year.

I think hiring Kiffin is what fricked you up with Town. He obviously can't stand the guy.

I think having a stable coach at USC is what screwed us over. No five star quarterback is going to commit to a school that has a coach on the hot seat. Whether or not Sark is a good hire is another topic for debate, but it is almost certain that Sark will be at USC for Town's career (excluding, of course, any NCAA or Penn State type crap happening there.)

I hate when USC has stability because then most of the good players stay in Cali.

Honestly, I think Memphis is right... Not sure if the Lane Kiffin hire is working as planned. It's still too early to tell but he cultivated such negativity at USC and Tennessee, that recruits aren't dumb with a blank slate for memory banks...the background and whisperings of how things have shaken down at both programs have to raise alarms in some form for players making decisions in terms from seeds of doubt knowing the character issues at hand. I think the success of the programs had with Nick Saban at the helm will override this overall but I do think it's working against Alabama with securing high profile offensive talent so far.

Meh. I don't necessarily believe that most kids care about the "character" of their coach." I know that if they did care, we would not have had that amazing 2008 class with how Saban left Miami and the lies of him stepping over a convulsing player. The Tennessee debacle happened when most of these recruits were in middle school.

I think it is way too early to tell Lane Kiffin's effect on the program and recruiting. This year it has been a struggle to find a quarterback, but that is not entirely Lane Kiffin's fault. Most USC experts were predicting that Ricky Town would flip before Nuss went to Michigan. Once stability came to the USC program it was too hard for Town to turn down.

That's not entirely fair. For one, it is way too early to tell. By the time Lane Kiffin came on board spots were extremely limited for the 2014 class. Most recruits seem to like him. Shortly after Humphrey committed he came down to Ttown and took a picture with Kiffin just hanging out in his office. The recruits like what he has done with the TE and WR. This year we already have Daylon Charlot committed who will be a fantastic slot prospect. We will get more offensive firepower committed eventually this year. Bama recruiting is typically slow until around August.

Have to think that this does nothing but improve A&M's chances with Kyler Murray this year. Not that the stuff wasn't all-in on him before(and I don't think Kyler was seriously considering Tech, but now they can truly get after the "Kyler or bust" mantra.

I think this is specific to Town though. Not the other offensive talent out there. Town and his father couldn't stand Kiffin when he was at SC, so it was no surprise when he decomitted from Bama.

I don't think Kiffin's character issues will hurt him on the trail, in regards to kids in the Southeast.

This comes as no surprise. He's been a huge tech lean. He will likely light it up in West Texas

Meh. Kiffin stock piled QB talent at USC. He will find someone in in this class or the next.

I've seen this comment repeated a lot, but have yet to see a credible source saying it. Link?
