Looks like a no.
A lot was at stake, but it certainly wasn't the worst loss in Alabama history.
Losing to crappy teams is worse than losing to good teams.
Alabama has lost actual championship games before, and those always feel worse to me than any regular season game can, even the Iron Bowl.
Alabama being in the midst of one of the best runs in college football history with a good chance to stay near the top kind of provides some good perspective too. This wasn't a situation where you feel like this was your one chance and now it's over. I feel like Alabama will be in the mix of the 4 team playoff for the foreseeable future.

This was definitely our TWAT (The Worst of All Time) Iron Bowl.

Same here. Last week, I was imagining how bad it would suck if we lost the game and reality isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. You can't win them all.

1973 Sugar Bowl was the worst..by far. For the National Championship...playing Notre Dame...3th and long for ND on their own 4 yd.line with 2 min. left...if they punt, everybody in the stadium (and I was one of them) knows Alabama wins the game...long sideline pass...complete...first down...game over. ...sickness sets in.

I don't mind quoting myself from another thread, especially since it applies here:
Hmmm... We ain't going anywhere, much to the dismay of our opponents. If we win our bowl game (likely under current BCS scenarios) we'll end up 12-1 and ranked in the top three - AND there is still a scenario where we could reach THIS years BCS championship (unlikely for Duke to beat FSU, but the possibility is there). We are on track to sign the #1 recruiting class (again) just like we have for the last several years. We'll probably start in the top three in next years polls which will allow us to pretty much control our own destiny again for next year's championship.
Let's face facts here... you LSU corndog rubes would love to be in this position and you know it.

Also lost was the "Saban as unerring, mistake-free commander to be feared" mystique. He is fully, 100% to blame for the loss.

Nah, he makes plenty of questionable decisions in games, they just never cost him a loss.

This loss is probably the iceberg for saban at bama. I fully expect him to be gone after next season for Texas or the NFL. This is the game where saban realizes he had enough of the bama gig.

No, I was at the UCF, ULM, and NIU losses. Those were worse
I was at the NIU loss and the ULM loss.
I was at the near USF win in 2003. Bama just escaped in that game.
Those were all worse. Without a doubt.

lol such naivety.

Losing to ULM is worse than losing to A top 5 Auburn team.
This is the same as lsu posters saying losing to bama on 1/9/12 is lsu's worse loss. It's ignorant.

I guess I should rephrase to "Most Painful Loss" because that's what I really mean.

ULM in 07. Southern Miss in 2000.
Those 2 had me throwing shiz in disgust. Losing to a top 10 team at their house with super mojo on their side is not going to rank high on my pizzed off meter. Does suck though and felt like getting kicked in the nutz.

What they lost and how they did it makes it the worst loss I've seen, and I was at the ULM game. Winning has erased that loss, nothing will erase this one. frick that game with a big dick.

And what will add to the pain is that they get to see that play, and hear the Auburn announcer's voice, for the rest of their lives during Iron Bowl week.
That play will never die, thus adding to the pain every year for Tide fans.
I wonder if they'll be forced to see that replay as often as Mizzou fans are forced to watch Tyus Edney's game-winning shot.

THIS. This Iron Bowl no doubt stung but I couldn't shake the feeling all game long that Auburn was meant to win. At the very end, I was convinced we were losing in OT. The return just sped up the inevitable.
The 2010 Iron Bowl was worse to me. Alabama was dominating that game and there was no reason Auburn should have been able to complete the comeback. I had a severe case of reda## after that game. I'm having a harder time feeling the same level of disgust over this one given that we're coming off of 3 titles in 4 years. If Ohio State and FSU win next week it will make the loss even less dramatic.

Even more sad is the fact that all of their trolling and celebrating of Alabama's misery still won't make us consider them a primary rival. They can't get anyone to be their rival.
