I will say right off the bat I am a die hard Mizzou fan, and even I find this is going to be tough for Mizzou; however I do think there is a way.

First off Mizzou must beat Florida otherwise all bets are off.

Not much chance Mizzou beats South Carolina so let's put that down as a loss.

Mizzou should be able to beat Tennessee at home and Kentucky on the road, if they can't they aren't in this conversation any way.

At this point they are scheduled to get Franklin back.

Their next game is against Ole Miss at Oxford. With Franklin this is a winnable game.

Their last game is against A&M. I guarantee Mizzou thinks they can win this game as they have beaten A&M 2 of the last 3 years, both at College Station. I know they got blown out last year but that was a beaten up and beaten down team. Actually I think Mizzou has the perfect defense to beat A&M. They aren't going to stop Manziel, if Bama can't do it Mizzou sure isn't. However the Mizzou defense is opportunistic and causes a lot of turnovers. If they can force a few interceptions or fumbles, Franklin and company can win a shoot-out.

For this scenario to work Mizzou would need some help by someone else beating USC.

Not sure the odds on this scenario without seeing how Mauk perform, but it is the one way forward I can see Mizzou winning the East.

You couldn't win the SECe with your starting quarterback.

I like your optimism, but it is too far out for me to consider.

One game at a time and Gatorrs are next!

FWIW I don't think you'd win it with Franklin healthy.

I wonder about that since it's:

Franklin being hurt is just a publicity stunt. Just before the game starts he is going to run out on to the field in uniform ready to play. The crowd will go crazy and the players will be pumped!

I don't think your defense is good neigh to stop manziel and co. The reason I say this is because UGA put up 28 pts with 3rd and 4th string running backs, and three of their top receivers out. Hell, UGA had to start a reciever that wAs on the scout team the previous week. I am sure it would have been a different outcome if everyone on UGA offense was healthy. We were also missing one of our starting db's due to injury....not that our secondary is good, but.....well you see what I'm getting at. Anyway, a&m's offense, will score on your defense pretty regularly. I think it will be a high scoring game, but manziel is the difference

I am feeling good about this year, but if we finish 9-3, we will have overachieved. And no way you win the east at 5-3. Now, win against UF and I'll reevaluate.

They wouldn't have won it with the starter so I'll say no with the backup.

beat SoCar without starter and let's see. You have to play florida too ya know? I know Florida is a lesser Va Tech this year, but...it is what it is.

If Mauk is competent, Missouri's got a chance this week and next if there's no letdown elsewhere.

On the South Carolina game... Other than last week's blowout of Arkansas, they've been playing tight games against a schedule at least as weak as the one Missouri's getting b-slapped over. Plus, it will be their 3rd consecutive road game. Not sure about college, but in the pros the winning percentage in that 3rd game goes way down.

So, back to the OP... Given that Mauk is a RSF, I doubt it. But the opportunity and schedule fit are there.

Mizzou wouldn't win the SEC East with Franklin. Mizzou is bound to lose games sooner or later.
