The coach will be fired, they always "suspend" someone while the investigation is ongoing. It's difficult to fire someone from a university so they gotta get their p's and q's in order.

$500 is a small amount and was paid bad and UA seems to be doing all the right stuff.

I don't see much fallout other than HaHa missing some games, potentially the entire season, which is of course a big deal.

Agreed. There is no competitive advantage one way or the other. It's not like having the competitions former recruiting coordinator in the coach's booth.

Voters wouldn't vote them nearly as high because they can't just forget a loss like some piece of evidence thrown out at trial. If there are multiple undefeateds at the end of the season, Texas A&M's loss to Alabama would hurt them in the eyes of voters.

If there are two undefeated teams at the end of the year and one of them is A&M, it is a moot point.

Laugh, but my pregnant wife is feeling better (been sick for a few days now) so I'd appreciate it if you respected that a little bit.

Alabama coach paying Alabama player, during the summer... How will this not lead to game forfeits? Wasn't he considered ineligible for every game so far?

I don't study up on all of the NCAA rules, FWIW.

I have no idea why people keep saying this

Compliance-wise, sure.

I guess I would have been ok with it never coming out though, to be fair.

How does something like this come out?

Or voters could simply put in a 1-loss team over them because A&M actually lost a game.

Because if the money was given and paid back during the summer then it really is a non-issue.

Here is a fast fact.

Auburn wouldn't have brought forth the Flucker case nor the HAHA case to the NCAAs attention , WOULD THEY ?

The “ leaked Fluker documents ” no doubt were documents that Alabama gave the NCAA in May , so Bama doesn't cover up and lawyer up like others , if we did no one would know about the Fluker or HAHA incidents.

But technically, since this violates the amateur status of the athlete, Alabama would be playing a "professional", which is against the rules. If you let this professional play, why couldn't you let Julio Jones come back one off Saturday to help us with LSU? He did have an extra year of eligibility, correct?

Marcell Dareus received benefits totaling $1787.17

He had a 2 game suspension, paid $1787.17 to a charity, played the rest of the year then got drafted in the 1st round the following spring.

This is sort of where my head's at. If this isn't a case of an ineligible player, what is?

Also, why the hell was UA employing someone who had ties to an agent?

I'm glad this wasn't Trooper lending money. No telling what would happen.

This dude Ha Ha should never play another down of football at the college level... these schools more than go out of their way to educate the players on what is illegal... he knowingly violated the rules.

As for the punishment for the program... a staffer with ties to an agent is paying players... there has to some form of scholarship losses and probation period associated with this.

The blatant stupidity of these two people really blows my mind.

Well, it's still a violation, coaches aren't supposed to loan players money.

Any sane coach would know that, he's never gonna work in NCAA football again.

No major sanctions will come down from this because UA took care of it right away and didn't try to cover it up.

The real penalties come when schools try to hide stuff, even minor stuff like this, that's when you get hammered.

That's why it's smart to suspend the lot of them and report exactly what happened ASAP.
