Top 10 dum arse meaningless phrases that should be cause for termination from this board with extreme prejudice...
10. "... a shutdown cornerback.." - No such thing (quote Nick Saban) because a well thrown ball always beats a corner...
9. ".. team needs a true difference maker on (Pick'um - defense, DB, DL DE DT DQ DWI..." - Geezzzz, WTF how does one "difference maker" make a difference in a team game as complex as football? WTF IS a "difference maker?" My guess it is someone "who makes plays.." see #3 below.
8. "... We young but we'll get after you..." - Duh ... all college teams are young and what does "get after you" have to do with winning football games?
7. "We'll have to take'um one game at a time.." - Nahhhhhh lets take TWO games at a time.
6. "our team is like family..." -
OMG I hope not unless you like a big disfunctional nightmare of a family with 90 unruly teenagers and no den mother... Whenever I hear this I immediately think that they really intended "family" to mean "street gang..." God help the college team that is "like family..."
5. "With all that talent we've recruited, it's the coaches fault..." - Comment - ever looked at "all that talent" the other teams have recruited?
4. "We can still win the ... [NC, Heisman, conference, division]" - (Note: pick one, or if you are LSU, pick several or all)
3. "somebody needs to 'make a play'..." - WTF? ... every play a whole bunch of people "makes plays"... What exactly does "make a play" mean? What does it mean when a player says that he wants to go out there and "make plays?"
2. "They wanted it more ...." - dumbest statement in sports. OMG, if any team, even one filled up with 160 lb slow white boys, just "wanted" it more... OMG - the French just didn't want it as much as the Germans in 1940.
1. "The LSU student body is actualy just young and enthusiastic and really doesn't throw pissbombs, key cars, insult young girls/old ladies, threaten opposing fans, or chant disgusting slogans on national TV. They just hav'in fun don't you know..." - Answer: Yeah! Right!
PS. We all know that in the English language, two negatives equal a positive... can you think of a case where two positives equal a negative?
PPS: "all we need is for one of our young talents who will get after it to become a difference maker, a shutdown corner, a player who can make a play while wanting it more and acting as a leader helping the family take'um one game at a time overcoming two early season losses while winning the NC without kicking anyone in the head at a bar at 2AM or at least not get arrested and suspended for keying cars, public use of profanity, etc., unless voted back on the team ..."

We were just a play or two away
Yeah? Well you didn't make those plays. And the other team could say "We were just a play or two away from really blowing them out".

ETA: It appears you're talking D, but AU is a totally different D with a C.J. Mosely. Also, Nick Fairley would be termed a "true difference maker". He single handedly dominated the majority of the time.
