First I'd heard/read about it. Flooding from the storms on the 23rd/24th got into Bud Walton and damaged the floor.

The Hogs could have began practice on Friday but could not due to the floors and in the mean time using the rec court for students.

fricking embarrassing and the CBS link I'll put below, makes it even more embarrassing we don't have a practice facility.

quote:

Making the matter even more of a hassle -- and embarassing, really -- is the fact Arkansas lacks a true practice facility. It is the only team in the SEC without one. The team was reduced to unorganized practice and workout sessions at the universitiy's recreational center, according to Mason. With Arkansas' first game coming Nov. 8 against SIU-Edwardsville, it's is able to practice as early as this Friday thanks to a new rule that has expanded college basketball's preseason.

Is Barnhill the rec facility they are talking about? I know they were practicing in there Saturday.

The fact that we hold practice in BWA is why we're so much better (especially shooting) at home than on the road.

How does this happen?

Facility that size with no water containment plan?

I was waiting for it to hit tRant.

They say the water came in through the roof.

They would have to use the HPER until the damage is finished if the need a basket for shooting, unless they moved the temporary goals to Barnhill and none of the gymnastics/volleyball stuff gets in the way.

Many still do not understand the need for a PF, think it should be a reward for Mike winning a NC. I hate our fanbase sometimes...

Every team shoots better at home than on the road.

Every team plays better at home than on the road.

Only the elite teams each season win consistently on the road...

It was an uncommon rain event.

That was not an uncommon rain event for this year, albeit this has been an uncommon year. More likely some part of the structure hit it's breaking point.

Wasn't that the same system that gave me 4" of rain at one time? Pretty uncommon here!

That's a hell of a lot of water. Let's hope it's an easy fix.

We had less than an inch, but a lot of it came down very fast. Still, not an unusual event.

Have y'all not seen the massive holes in the ground right next to BWA? There is some chiller plant construction going on. It seems pretty likely that it came into the building from there.

Water lines they're adding.....they need to make them bigger for the building on campus so that water flow and pressure will be normal. They were replacing pipes behind the track earlier, now replacing and enlarging those beside Bud Walton and Pomfret now.

Almost sounds planned. We want a new practice facility and our less then 20 year old arena suddenly develops a leak, so now we can't practice? Yea, I'm a little skeptical.

Saw that, it's literally on the loading dock at BWA. I am sure that plus the rain let the water get in.

Warren Stephens donated $2 million to start building the basketball practice facility, but Jeff Long earmarked the money for the football team. When Stephens found out he didn't follow through with the donation. This has driven the wedge further between Little Rock and the university.
