I thought NM looked very capable ever though he missed some wide open guys, we also had 3 drops that I recall. He looked really good moving around in the pocket keeping the plays alive.
All 3 rbs looked great. It will be interested to see how Gus splits the carries.
Very impressed with Monty, Bradley, and Therezie. We need to find a way to get Garrett on the field with Therezie once he's healthy.
Lb's looked rough to say the least, but with that said we won't face another team that throws like WSU so I'm interested to see how they perform against a run heavy team. MSU will be a good indicator of how good / bad we really are at LB
Davis and Mincy played really well imo, but our safeties did not. Whitehead has not improved.
I didn't notice much about the offensive line which is a good thing. If someone else paid closer attention please fill us in.
Gabe and Blackson still stand straight up and cat fight with Olinemen. Craig Sanders had a few good tackles but he isn't a pass rusher. Lawson got good pressure but also got chewed out for something

I don't have a lot of time to post today. At my parents house after a long night in Auburn.
I am not going to complain about what I saw last night. We obviously have some things to improve on and made some mistakes but most of the mistakes seemed fixable.
I also saw some good things and big improvements over last year.
Nick did not play bad. Started slow and missed a few guys but looked mobile, didn't turn the ball over and got very little help from the receivers.
The secondary tackled well and was much improved.
Will watch the game today and see what I missed

I've wondered where all the reverse play action plays have gone. Gus really hasn't run them much since 2009. I always loved those plays. Our offense had a lot less motion per snap. I'm sure a lot of that is NM limited playbook knowledge.

That they did. They do need to work on getting off blocks and attacking the LOS on screens and runs bouncing outside.

He ran at least one last night. I remember noticing it because that reverse play was shredding their defense.

It's gonna take a while for this team to unlearn all the shitty habits from the past few years. We lack attitude and swagger on both sides of the ball, especially defense. Our D did some good things last night, but until I can use words like tough, nasty, hard hitting, and aggressive to describe their play on a consistent basis, I won't be satisfied. NM's needs to run with more balance. He looked like OMac at times, with the ease at which he went down. For a guy his size, he shouldn't have guys going high on him and wrestling him down.

If our receivers do not remove their heads from their collective rectums we are in for a long year being a one dimensional offense.

This defense is interesting to say the least.
We should have had 6 nits, not 3. Was that a product of WSU pass heavy offense or were our guys in good spots? Don't know.
I thought C Sanders played really well with Adams on theirs side when together.
Got to see that Gus attitude we have been hearing about...he ripped Prosch a new one at one point.

This. They weren't getting much separation and dropped numerous balls. They have to improve quickly.

One interception was easy, the ball was thrown right at Therezie. The others were created through good coverage and ball skills.

On my phone but
QB- Disappointed in Marshalls ability to run zone read. I though all things considered that would be a surefire plus and I was wrong. His passing will come along if our wide receivers stop sucking.mess with a qbs head when you don't trust your wr to make a play. Running, I felt like Malzahn was harnessing him and was worried about fumbles and tuck and run too early. Think they are trying to find that balance. Clearly he doesn't know the full playbook
RB- Obviously we have something special this year at this position. They need to work in fumbles though. While those were ridiculous hits, in the redzone and driving after a turnover, you can't fumble. just because we only lost one doesn't mean it is okay
FB I saw Prosch blow someone up but it seems like he doesn't know well who he is supposed to block because he misses guys a lot
Wr- I missed first half but Coates seem ed to settle down. RiCardo looked like a kid in his first time under the spotlights. I hope Tony Steven s gets playing time because we seemed to be grasping for straws and getting nothing. Clearly the talent is there but we aren't able to tap into it
TE- Cj and Fulse showed up in camp but they need to catch in a game. Granted Marshall overthrew them a bunch
Oline- Other then some stupid penalties especially when they incorrectly caught the dlme offside they did well. Avery Young needs to start for Rg duck slade
DLine. Outside of Monty and Lawsons we had no pass rush. Our DTs were extremely inconsistent. Wright would blow a play up and next play get blown up. we need to do better maintaining the QB in the pocket. We opened giant scrambling lanes that future mobile QBs will blow us up on. Run defense was inconsistent but better overall
LB-
DBs- Made mistakes but we're very improved. I vote we go dine early and often with Garrett and Therezie. Therezie is just a baller. Whitehead was average but I feel he got the job done. Mincy won't dip three ints but in his defense one was near un catchable and a second he got blown up almost head to head contact. David and Holsey were solid and can't argue. They need to do a better job with screen and flats passes

Gus was like a Boomlite out there. I thought he was going to give himself a heart attack

- We gave up 21 pts in the 1st Half and 3 in the @nd Half. That's progress.
- Jake Holland must be the greatest practice player ever. And the worst game player ever.
- Coates and Louis are inconsistent as frick!!!
- Not enough runs, misdirection, and(dare I say) bubble screens...I know, right.
- 1st String D Line still look like shite. 3Z balled out last night. Chris Davis is a playmaker at PR and he played very good last night.
Should have won by at least 17 - 21 pts last night.

Coates is sneaky fast. He can consistently get behind the defense, but can't catch consistently.
Take away the drops and NM is 13-19 150 yards

I liked our secondary play especially considering how little help they got from the pass rush. DT's played better than I expected and what little rush we did get came from them. DE's need help and LB play was also below average. OL played well and so did the Rb's. Wr's were average and Marshall did not impress me at all. He didn't look fast at all and was easy to bring down and his accuracy was pretty shitty as well.

Room for a lot of improvement. Need a clutch receiver who can make a catch even if throw is off. QBs overthrew several open receivers (including Wallace on the trick play). Defense needs better line play although it is hard to put pressure on Leach's QBs (too many quick throws). It was nice to see our DBs in same camera shot as receivers for a change.
On positive side, RBs looked good. We had some WRs open deep at time. Defense really tightened up in second half.

Anyone know when and where the replay comes on? I'd like to rewatch.
