I love the "unfair competitive advantage"argument of the Gumps.Lets go there:

What can give a greater unfair advantage than rushing more people than the Offense has blockers" Plus how many QBs have been injured as a result of hits from this.? Its a player safety issue. Ban this crap asap.

Disguising covers? Obviously unfair. Ban it.

The offense has to be set while the defense can move all around. Ban it

Having more 4 and 5 star players than the opponent. Clearly that is an unfair competitive advantage. New rule - you can only play as many 5 star recruits as your opponent does. Same for 4 stars.

For the Gumps, this is called being sarcastic
My two cents worth. Just as with the "spread", the "sun and gun" "the veer" and the "wishbone" the HUNH is not unstoppable. However, like the other offenses, it requires different types of defensive players and schemes than a defense against a pro set or an "I formation"

Now Saban does not have many years of coaching left. He knows that with the playoff system and general hatred of the SEC, he has to at least win his division and probably the SEC championship to get in the playoffs.

It will take 2-3 years to recruit the right type of players and he may be gone by then. So he decided to stoop (no pun intended) beneath himself and Alabama and change the rules. Kind of sad isn't it?
Anyone else thinks it is just coincidence that Auburn and Arkansas play each to start next season
Okay, for all you folks who have read these pages - I want you to know that I am a member of the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Hall of Fame so my opinion on this subject is far more valid that yours. You want me to name where I played? So sorry, I do not give out personal info so just trust me. After all, if it wasn't true, I could not post it on the internet.

This is about player safety. Then I assume Alabama and Arkansas will be announcing soon that they will no longer play in Championship games, bowls or playoffs. After all more games = more plays = more injuries (right).

Better yet, if 10 seconds prevents injuries would not more seconds prevent more injuries? So why now have the rule read you can not snap the ball until 5 seconds or less is left on the play clock?

All the HUNH teams are scared but Bama/Arky are the ones trying to change the rules. Does that make sense to anyone?

The baseball pitcher comparison (BTW, I am in that Hall of Fame also, trust me). Actually once the umpire signals the pitcher (sort of like what a football ref standing over the football does), a baseball pitcher can throw the ball even if the batter is out of the box.
PPD just worried that Updyke will poison the palm trees

This Broadhurst guy and the tea bagging Alabama guy were both from Phenix City.
I agree. They just don't want to be Updyked

However was today worth burning Johnson's redshirt?
This is interesting

"Harris made a short-term loan to Clinton-Dix in an amount less than $500, after Clinton-Dix's car was broken into on the night of June 25 or the morning of June 26. The Tuscaloosa News has obtained the police report filed by Clinton-Dix after the break-in, detailing the theft of money, an iPad, a backpack and sandals — both embroidered with Clinton-Dix's jersey number (No. 6) — stereo speaker sub-woofers, miscellaneous shirts and Nike Air Jordan shoes.

The police report (pictured below) states that Clinton-Dix's black and gray 2012 Dodge Charger was parked at his residence on the 4500 block of East 18th Avenue. Clinton-Dix is not identified by name on the police report due to Tuscaloosa Police Department policy not to list victims of crimes on such reports.

Clinton-Dix has provided bank records to UA athletic compliance department representatives that show a withdrawal in the amount he said he repaid to Harris, The Tuscaloosa News has learned.

Harris' annual salary is $43,260.

The situation could be a violation of NCAA Bylaw 16.11.2.2, which states that “an institutional employee or representative of the institution's athletics interests may not provide a student-athlete with extra benefits or services, including, but not limited to ... a loan of money.”

Sorry, I think it is just a "fad" play. It worked for a little while until defenses figured it out, then it fizzled. To work now, the QB has to be able to pass out of it and Frazier is too horrible a passer to take the risk.

"The wildcat is an extremely effective play that when coupled with a HUNH, can really harm defenses and screw them up."

So when exactly is this wonder play going to "screw" some defense? So far they are not having much of a problem with 2nd and long

Don't understand Frazier in the wildcat either. At least with Wallace at wildcat QB, there is a threat of a pass.

What has happened to Wallace? I know he is not the starter but why is Frazier apparently the back up now?

Well said 24.
I think we should worry about this year first.

Room for a lot of improvement. Need a clutch receiver who can make a catch even if throw is off. QBs overthrew several open receivers (including Wallace on the trick play). Defense needs better line play although it is hard to put pressure on Leach's QBs (too many quick throws). It was nice to see our DBs in same camera shot as receivers for a change.

On positive side, RBs looked good. We had some WRs open deep at time. Defense really tightened up in second half.
