Dick Burleson gets what Dick Burleson wants.
It was clearly an interception....replay booth screwed that call. All that said, it is correct that no one knows what, if anything, LSU would have done on the ensuing drive. But LSU definitely deserved the ball ... it was clearly an INT.

And it didn't help that the Replay Official in the press box was an Alabama grad.
I've heard that from the LSU fans but have never seen that printed anywhere in a legitimate article. Can you provide the proof the replay official was a Bama grad. It's my understanding that you cannot be a ref of any game that includes a team that you graduated from.

I think that's a relatively new rule.

You don't say?
Name the last close play that didnt go Alabamas way.

SEC replay officials ruled he didn't get four steps inbounds on the interception.

Yeah, too bad every single person not an Alabama fan knows that was a bullshite call. DWI

Reid interception on the goal line.

It's so clear to everyone else in the world and the argument after that game was that Bama didn't have HD in the replay booth so they really couldn't tell or some crazy shite..

just love how everyone looks at pictures of PP7 clearly inbounds and thinks that proves something. The issue was not whether he was in bounds. The issue is if he was in bounds with complete control of the ball and if there was "indisputable video evidence" of that, since the call on the field was in incomplete pass.
You can see the ball in his hands in that pic

Too bad it was the correct call though.

OK mythbuster on Dick Burleson being a Bama Grad.
So, not only is he not an actual Bama Grad, he did not even make the actual call on the non interception.
bleacher report but it is the source for myth busting LSU fans claim DB is a Bama Grad and that he made the call.

riticism of the SEC increased when it was learned that replay communicator Dick Burleson worked the LSU-Alabama game. Burleson, who is not an alumnus of Alabama, has strong ties to the university and has even spoken at Alabama booster club meetings. Burleson is a replay communicator, meaning he is in the replay booth and has the ability to give advice about calls involving instant replay, but does not rule directly on replays like the replay official does
So, not only is he not an actual Bama Grad, he did not even make the actual call on the non interception.

Blow up the picture and it clearly shows that his hands had not grasped the ball yet and were at the tips of his fingers. No possession no control in that pic.

Some how Alabama and Auburn manage to get their guys in the replay booth.
If he has close ties to BAMA and made that bad of an obvious call there is legs to the corruption.

as a neutral party, I thought it was a close call. you have to look at it from where he had control of the ball, not when it first touched his hands.
I think it could have gone either way.
I have seen the video multiple times, but what was the initial ruling on the field?
Exactly. The call on the field was incomplete pass. Therefore "indisputable video evidence" was needed to overturn the call. If there was any question whatsoever as to whether PP7 had complete control of the ball while in bounds, the ref was required to confirm the call on the field.
LSU fans love bitching, but hate things like reading and understanding the rule book to know what they are bitching about.

That's an interception. No doubt about it.
