The group that has 3 out of 4 is huge...you have a good point.

There is something different about AJ from the other Saban QBs...I think he has the potential to have a good NFL career.
I don't know about best ever, but he has to be up there.
With that said...

You could plug in almost any of the starting SEC QB's into the Alabama system and see minimal drop off in the team's success.

Finebaum is the best radio announcer ever!

come on now... he's not Andrew Luck or anything, but the guy is smart with the ball, has a great arm, accurate, and runs the offense well... that team doesn't win the SEC or NCs with Bo Wallace, for example (not meant as a slight to BW, he just seems like the median for SEC QBs).

AJ McCarron isn't the best QB in history but he may be the best fit in history. He is a very good quarterback who does his job very well.

He makes the throws when they count. Can't ask for any better.
I'm curious how he translates to the nfl.

Disagree, AJ has a clean release and a decent arm.
He will make an NFL roster and I wouldn't be surprised if he starts games before you know it.

I don't think he will ever be in that discussion, but he would be the most accomplished QB ever.
He would have more rings than Tebow and I am confident that he will have a longer NFL career than Tebow.

McCarron is good, but he's no Mettenberger.

He's not the best ever but don't sell him short. Led the country in passing efficiency last year.

He's a phenomenal quarterback. Most decorated for sure. But not the best quarterback.

he'll make a roster for a while, but will never develop as a starter, IMO. He's does a bunch of things really well, but isn't elite with anything -- athleticism, arm-strengh, accuracy, intelligence.
Brady Quinn comes to mind.

Fact.

He doesn't fit the "sexy" criteria, but he deserves to be in the discussion.
