The Columbia Daily Tribune reported this week that Mizzou spent $7.1 million on travel in the 2012-13 academic year. That's $1 million more than what athletics officials expected and nearly $2 million more than travel costs during the school's final season in the Big 12 Conference.

a) as an AAU school seems like Mizzou would have smarter folks keeping the books.
b) will similar over budget things happen in Mizzou's facility upgrades?

Secondary question.

What aircraft / bus does your school own or lease?

Please don't inject the facts.

MU got screwed by some airline, they ended up not having what they promised and MU was forced to scrabble and get bigger planes than needed.

Try to not be a dumbass next time.

Cool. Tennessee is only 100 miles from Indiana. I guess we need to invite Notre Dame when the inevitable 16 team expansion happens.

What? Mogray, looks like Mizzou did not take in consideration of flying charter instead of commercial. Also, the do not have geographical advantage of driving to schools....now have to fly. It seems Mizzou was really meant for the Big 10 instead of the SEC.

Time to move to the Big 10. We could easily drive to Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Indiana, and Purdue, and perhaps Wisconsin and Minnesota.

And we'd make more money in the Big 10.

Jesus, why did we move to an inferior league. Ugh.

Why do we care how far it is to another northern school?

Mizzou can't handle the SEC in any capacity.

It's 1,042 miles from Mizzou to Rutgers.

They would take long arse trips regardless of what conference they ended up in.

IMO the SEC itself should start picking up the tab for all in conference travel expenses. It should be able to do this with ease once the money from the SECN comes in.

Yeah, and it's over 1000 miles to Rutgers (if we went Big10). And it's close to 1000 to Texas Tech if we stayed in Big12. Way to be obtuse though, nice.

This is a good idea, and another way to create equality in the league.

They do bring in some TV sets, that's what expansion is all about. Plus, they're about as Southern as we are. Looks like a win-win.
