Dubose/Fran/Shula/Saban/Bryant/Stallings....it doesn't matter. I enjoy UA football no matter who is on the sideline and no matter the level of success.
Football Saturdays are about seeing old friends, eating good, and drinking too much. The game is just a game.

Not to mention I thought my Ags fricked up the SEC's chances for #7 with the W in BDS.
It took a thousand angels blowing on the collective college football scroatal sac to get Bama back into title contention with the crazy Oregon and K State losses.
If that didn't excite you, nothing will.

No I don't miss getting pounded at work every day by Florida State and Florida fans.

not much to miss about Franchione.
the guy had a cup of coffee and left.

No, I prefer it this way. That's probably why I like Super Teams in the NBA. I don't wanna see parity, I wanna see dominance.

Only about 50% of Bama fans were Bama fans during those years.

We certainly missed the years in which Franchione wasn't our coach from 2003-2007.

Those were the years where you could tell a true Bama fan. We were pretty good at times, but not that good. We were pretty bad at times, but not that bad. My close Bama friends had a saying that we would always tell each other after all those losses: "Roll Tide Anyway". We knew we all loved Alabama for the same reason and it came from somewhere deep inside. The sidewalkers and the bandwaggoners all went to root for other teams, and that was good.
I do remember getting very excited about things that seem mundane now. When we got Andre Smith, someone that lived 45 minutes from campus, I remember thinking how lucky we were to get him. Now, that kind of thing is expected.
Also, I was younger with hair then, so I had that going for me.

It is an absolute fluke that Saban is even at Alabama.
If the Dolphins sign Brees in '06, Saban may have lasted another year or more in Miami, and then he would have to had to take any college job open.
Classy how he announced he was taking the Miami job ON Christmas Day, after minutes earlier telling local BR and NO news media 'love those Tigers!'
Also it was extremely classy of him to repeatedly tell the media ad nauseum - to the point of anger
"No, I will not be the head coach at Alabama, I don't know how many times I have to tell you, and I'm really getting tired of it." then.....
turn around and announce over the Dolphins adminsitrative building's loud speakers, that he was quitting.

If you have been a Alabama fan long enough to have endured those years, you appreciate what the Saban years have brought us.
I don't think it's boring to obliterate teams on a regular basis, because it wasn't too long ago that we lost to Mississippi State two years in a row. That's right--Mississippi State. TWO YEARS IN A ROW.
The way I felt leaving Neyland Stadium in 2006, any of the Iron Bowls during Auburn's streak, Starkville in 2007, and the low point--BDS after losing to Louisiana-Monroe, still boils in my mind.
After losing to Auburn in 2010, it reminded me how much schools that get abused by us, throw it in our faces after they beat us.
Because I know what happens when we lose (seriously, Texas A&M is still talking about it for goodness sakes), I will always cherish and be happy with the state of our program. We are in another Bear Bryant like era, and it's fantastic. It won't last forever, and soon you'll ask the oh-so-stupid question, "Do you miss when we beat everyone, all the time?"

frick no. You miss losing to UT and AU every year? Not to mention the rest of the SEC schools.

Not boring. Don't miss it.
But there is one thing for sure... a horrible time frame like that really galvanizes the fanbase. you lose all of your fair-weather fans, and as a fan yourself... you are carved out of iron when it's all over. it really made this run we're on right now REALLY sweet.
it takes legitimate faith to get through dark ages such as those.

I grew up a Bama fan(my dad is an alum). I shunned them forever for Houston Nutt and the reemergence of OM in 08 for my FR year of college in Oxford. Sucks for me I experienced the bad years without the good years.
frick Saban though. Fresus saves.

I understand what ur saying but didnt we spend those years wishing for what we have now?!
Wondering if we r going to win it all each year is still exciting, it won't stop being either!
