Don't see how you could argue against
Florida

LSU

Bama

Florida obviously is the best. I'd say LSU is a somewhat close second. You have to include Bama simply Bc of their football accomplishments IMO.

I agree these are the main three sports. However, I am going to use a weighted average on these to indicate my expert analysis of what the average fan gives a shite about (as evidenced by an in depth statistical analysis of tv ratings, attendance, and revenue for the respective sports. This weighted average comes out to:

Football - 65%
Basketball - 25%
Baseball - 10%

Therefore the top 3 ranking of the SEC programs in the Big 3 right now using my advanced ranking system is:

1. Alabama
2. Florida
3. LSU

Short version: football is king, Alabama is king.

Recent history.

1. Florida-(obvious recent championships in basketball and football with a consistent national contender in baseball)

2. LSU-(baseball and football titles recently, with a recent final four appearance)

I think that these are the only two teams in the recent history to have contenders in all 3 "major" sports.

After that I would say there are teams that have had continued success in their respective sports.

Bama football
South Carolina baseball
Kentucky basketball

Well, the first problem with this thread is that there aren't three main sports. There are two main sports.

Also, while it might surprise some of you, college football is not as big of a deal outside of the south and midwest as many of you may think. College basketball is even less of a big deal. So you can probably imagine that pretty much no one outside of Louisiana and South Carolina gives a flying frick about college baseball.

National Television Audiences for National Championship Games:
2012 BCS National Championship Game: 24.2 million viewers
2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship Game: 23.4 viewers

Now, I tried to search for college baseball ratings and got nothing. That should tell you something. But I did find this interesting tidbit, from an ESPN article entitled, "No love for HS, college baseball?"

quote:

From college baseball's national championship to the National Hot Rod Association? Nothing against ESPN2, for which I do a show. But can you imagine college football's or basketball's national championship game on ESPN2 followed by drag racing? What, this event doesn't even rate a postgame show?

quote:

Good God, the College World Series can't even compete in the ratings with the Little League World Series! Last summer, "Baseball Tonight" sent its A team -- Peter Gammons, John Kruk, Harold Reynolds -- to analyze the 11- and 12-year-olds!

College Baseball is Pretty Much a Southern Game

In short, no one gives a frick.
