We could change the East Division's name to the "SEC Division" and the West Division's name to the "SWC Division
Umm there would be 2 SWC teams and 3 Big 8 schools then....

Makes more sense in that you do not eliminate UK's (2) closest teams. Knoxville and Nashville are about 3 hours from Lexington while USC and UF are overnight trips. Even when down the Dores and Vols sell well for games in Lex because of proximity.
Also, many Bama fans in the Bluegrass state
But Pod 4 would be just too dang hard. You really need to throw either UK or Vandy in with UF, UGA, & USCe to at least make an attempt at parity.
Do UK and Vandy fans actually travel well for football games? In my pod lineups, I forgot that I was leaving out TSOR. So you would have to make at least that game a permanent game. So maybe you could make UK/UT or Vandy/UT (depending on which team you move to Pod 4) a permanent game as well.

How will the highway 82 rivalry continue if we go east?
As a Bama fan, I couldn't care less about our game with MSU. The only rivalries that are essential to me (and I think most Bama fans) is the Iron Bowl and the TSIO. I would gladly give up playing either of the MS schools, if it meant that we played UF & UGA yearly.

I hate this shite.
Look at those teams, why in the HELL do you want LSU to leave the SEC?
I want to see LSU play UGA and UT MORE, not less.
Every time someone posts this stupid shite I think we've been kicked out of the SEC and thrown into the Big SWC 8.
Unfortunately if the SEC ever goes to 16 teams by adding teams from the west, and if we stick with two divisions, then geography will dictate that LSU will be in the west. But if they decided to go to pods, then you could end up in a pod with OM, MSU, & aTm.
Now if we were to add two teams from the east to get to 16 teams, and stayed with 2 divisions, then Mizzou would move west and the rest would stay the same, but we would play the eastern teams a lot less. But if we went to pods, LSU would probably get stuck in a pod at the western flank (probably LSU, aTm, Arky, & Mizzou), but you would play all of the eastern teams more at every 3 years.
Those are the most "logical" and "clean" ways to divide up a 16 team SEC.

Yeah, so don't, I say.
Let's not forget it's the Southeastern Conference.

UK / UT / VU for all sports
Even when they are down the Dores and Vols tickets in Rupp are hard to come by but the same can not be said for the other SEC schools. It was a big issue when making UF the pema for UK in basketball. It was a TV deal because Gators do not travel as well. Secondary sports means higher draws for all 3 schools. At Vandy the draws they get from UT and UK are evident at games.
3 hours means more fans of all three schools will make day trips that might not make overnight trips. Southern KY and Northern TN is home to many crossover fans. Also, VU alumni in Louisville have a straight shot and easy drive between Louisville and Nashville going back to the old L&N railroad days but now replaced by the interstate.

We are only talking football in this instance. The other major sports won't be divided up the same way due to the fact they play more games.

from CFDW
UK vs UT
series dates back to 1893 and includes 108 games and pretty much unbroken series since WW I
UK vs VU
series dates back to 1896 and includes 85 games and pretty much unbroken series since WW II
compared to UGA / UF / USC / AU
Dawgs - 66 meetings
Gators - 63 meetings
Tigers - 32 meetings
Cocks - 24 meetings
Pretty clear football triangle between UK / UT / VU from the very beginnings of college football (UK was the first SEC team with football and was a decade before the rest of the SEC schools) which should be enough but UK and VU have additional ties that go back to bot the start of football in the south and the founding of the SEC in 1932. While many will fight to protect the Bama and Vols game I think there is a significant alumni base in the triangle of UK / UT / VU to protect that triangle. Not sure the SEC will want to disrupt their northern most block of schools as they are the buffer to the B1G.

Hypothetical 16 team SEC, including Okie and Okie St.
How about no. the Southeastern Conference does not need to be adding teams from the Mid-west that are neither South or East.

Big 6 doesn't change because of a few bad years. It's based on historic dominance.
Using your historic-dominance logic, Miami, Nebraska, and Penn St. would also be considered perennial powers--B.S.
For that matter, Oklahoma might easily go the way of Nebraska. Where is their recruiting base? Texas looks lost to them now that TAM is in the SEC.
Tennessee is doomed to remain an SEC doormat and Bama's sacrificial lamb for a long-long time, but you already know that--good try Gump!

Yes, I know... I'm 50 years old. I remember the hey-day of the SWC and the Big 8.
But naming a Southeastern Conference division the Big 8 Division would have made no sense.

If it was up to a lot of you traditionalists, Suwanee and Tulane would still be in the SEC.

I dont get the attraction of so many to OkState. They control the Stillwater market and not much else. Once the Tboone Pickens money dries up their glass slippers come off and they turn back into Iowa State. Their academics would not help improve the SEC.
OU would be an ok add, I guess.

Dickerson in retrospect, was kryptonite to any program who got him because all of us were cheating on such a brazen level.
Was aTm the one who gave him the new sports car and he double crossed them and went to SMU?

Yep. Fricker drove it to SMU

Then Herschel Walker >>>>>> Eric Dickerson.
The Pontiac Trans Am that UGA/Don Leebern provided to Herschel definitely made it on campus.

Since the Big Bevo's grant of rights expire before the ACC's I could see us eventually picking up two teams from that conference but I doubt it will be both Okie and Okie State.
The teams to available to pick from:
Baylor (No thanks)
kansas (maybe)
Kansas State (probably not)
Iowa State (No thanks)
Oklahoma (Would be a great addition)
Oklahoma State (Don't add anyting if we add OU)
TCU (No Thanks)
Texas (The Longhorn cancer has killed one conference and left another mangled and deformed, No Thanks)
Texas Tech (maybe)
West Virginia (maybe)
I'd say a combination of Oklahoma and one of kansas or West Virginia with Tech being a possible long shot.
