Does anyone here believe that if one of the more important games played in the last ten years or so can change a program? Like Auburn-Alabama in 2010. That was an awful loss for Alabama, but they have been fiery hot ever since. Had that never happened, do you think the players and coaches would have been as motivated?

Another example is the Tennessee program. Had they beaten LSU in 2010 14-10, do you think that would have given the program the confidence they needed to return to national prominence? I've always said that that game motivated LSU throughout the rest of the 2010 season and the 2011 season. We escaped with the the ugliest win in history, and realized that something would have to change for us be national title contenders again.

Just an offseason thread.

If Alabama had lost to Clemson in 2008, I'm not so sure we win a single NC in the last 5 years.

See Alabama-Texas A&M 2012.

Do you honestly believe that JFF would have won the Heisman with 3 losses?

I think if Arkansas beat Alabama in 2010 things could've been different for us

Of course, Bobby P would've still put it in Jessica so we would still be where we are now

Yes. A good example would be LSU post BAMA vs LSU in the 2012 BCSNC game.

To be fair, before the 2010 IB, we had only lost 4 games in almost 3 years.

I dont really think that game changed anything for anyone really.

I dont think it would have had that much bearing on Dooley's success if UT would have beat LSU in 2010.

I wouldn't go that far, but this is a perfect example of how a game can really jump start a program.

No. One game cannot change a program. It can help/hurt a program. That 2010 Bama team also had 2 other losses on the year, and the 2010 LSU 'win' against Tennessee was a small fraction of the bullshite LSU put up with under Gary Crowton.

So no, I don't think any one game is enough to change a program, however I do think they can have an impact. But it's up to the head coach to determine how positive/negative that impact is.

Except for the 2005 Peach Bowl. Miami hasn't been the same program since that game.

A case could be made. They were still considered a top 10 elite program. After that dismantling...poof.

Sadly, I don't think it would made the difference it could've with the coaching staff we had

One game can, but only due to a domino effect in coaching changes IMO.

If Shula had beaten AU that last time, Saban is not hired and bama would probably still be more middle of the pack in the SEC with a really good year every so often.

But no, one game can't change a program absent regime change.

MSU game sealed his fate. He was gone either way.
