Schedule is rough overall: 10-2 would be solid with games vs Florida, UGA, Bama, A&M
Two of those are away games and they start the year with the danger of being upset against TCU. LSU should be a good team but the schedule is not in their favor RE: winning the SEC West

That big bad "D" of ole miss was going againt an LSU OL that consisted of two FR on the right side, a LT that had about four games under his belt at that position (was a guard his whole life) and a true So at LG.
Do you remember how many sacks that the #2 sacking defense in the SEC got that game?
I'll give you a hint. It was the same amount the sack leaders of the SEC had against that same Oline. Only thing is cocks faced a little greener OL that the rebs because it was a couple of games earlier.
BTW the sack number for both those teams VS LSU was ONE!!!!!!

One thing I get from this thread is that LSU has one hell of a schedule this year. It's pretty brutal. They can handle it but it will be hard for them to win them all.

On defense or overall?
HaHa
Belue
Sunseri (though he probably won't play as much this year)
Hubbard
Mosley
DePriest
Dickson
Stinson
Pagan (played as much as Square, even better as the season went on. May not have been the first one on the field, but played just as much nonetheless. I guess you could be strict about it and only count people who play the first snap)
Ivory
Devall
Fulton
Smith
CyKo
Steen
McCarron
Yeldon
Fowler (FB before he got hurt)
Cooper
Norwood
Bell
White (got hurt)
Ch. Jones
Vogler
Cade Foster
Cody Mandell

It really doesn't matter what the LSU passing attack ranked in the SEC. What matters is what they did against the rebel pass "D". If I remember correctly it was somewhere around the 260-275 mark. Much better than game avg for the season.

LSU should have a much improved passing game with a real OC. Mett has the arm talent, but he's a statue in the pocket and that probably won't change, and his decision making is very suspect. He has the talent at WR though, and the running game to set up PA, so with good play calling he could get something like 2800 yards 20 TDs.

No I didn't. Wing was a soph. He specifically said LSU lost 11 JRs early. He wanted to know who the JRs were.

The biggest part of your statement there. We lost our starting LT, RT, RG by mid point in the season with our C being nicked up multiple times. Mett was getting destroyed till the makeshift o line started to gel round Bama at which point he looked like a legitimate SEC qb. The fact we went 2 and 2 against top 10 teams in the regular season both in single possession games one on a last minute heartbreak should have the rest of the SEC worried not confident.
But but 11 juniors! 1 was a punter 1 was kicked off before the season 1 didnt play after the 3rd game 2 were back up running backs, 1 admitted to only giving effort in big games.

Yeah your OL wasn't doing him any favors, but that doesn't change the fact that his footwork was horrible and his mobility was bad. It's how he is, some guys are just born like that.

That OM defense was starting 3 Jrs and Srs last year plus CJJ didn't even play. Don't act like LSU is light years more talented than OM. It's simply not true.

So you want to count players that weren't necessiarly starters. Guys that were in the regular rotation and saw a GREAT DEAL of PT.
Fine by me.
LSU Offense
L Collins
Williford
Turner
V Alexander
OBJ
Landry
Wright
Boone
Copeland
Blue
Hill
Hilliard
Mett
LSU Defense
Freak
Ego
Rasco
Barrow
T Jones
D Jones
Louis
K Alexander
Mills
J Collins
Eugene
Loston
Collins
Didn't know you wanted to include specialists
Ferguson
Harriston
Keehn

No doubt just saying that opposing fans are ignorant or ignoring that fact and letting first half of the season Mett cloud their view of LSU. Unless we have just completely pissed off the football gods we should not have that kind of in season o line attrition this year. We dont lose the game vs UF if our o line was gelling. People are underestimating LSU....makes it all that much better when a mudhole is stomped.

That LSU "O" that faced you ole miss defense that night is bringing back
four starting O-linemen
Top four WRs
starting FB and his backup (who played in every game)
TB that started first two games of the season. TB that finished the season as starter and K Hilliard (#2 rusher on the team)
starting QB.
LSU offense had their best game of the year VS that rebel defense.

And? Don't act like OM doesn't return just as much on offense. It's going to be a good game either way but don't act like you're more talented its not true.

usually is, Ole Miss plays LSU much tougher than than their other results indicate they should

LSU obviously does have more talent, but Ole Miss is a talented team as well

Yes its consensus ONLY when ole piss says they will win, it is guaranteed.
Posted on 3/6/13 at 7:16 pm to CrimsonChin
They'll be a top 12-15 team to start, but I'm not sure on 3 losses, though. 2 seems more likely.

I just don't see this year's team having much of a chance to beat Bama or Georgia on the road, and it's tough to imagine they take all three from A&M, Ole Miss and Florida. And this is assuming no "big" upsets like MSU or TCU.
The way Miles' teams, even the best of them, play with fire so often and the extent to which they rely on their defense makes them vunerable in a year in which they are throwing virtually a brand new starting unit on that side of the ball. Whether LSU fans want to admit it or not this team will be A LOT closer to the 2008 version than the 2011 one.
