before the bridge schedule, UGA and Bama were going to play in regular season. the whole SEC and BCSCG picture would be completely different if that had happened
if Bama wins, its Bama vs UF in the SECCG. If UGA wins, its LSU vs. UGA in the SECCG
All very true, but it's not like the schedules changed out of the blue for no reason; we added 2 teams to the conference. Some things had to change. I'm sorry if LSU feels like it got shafted. I don't know what to tell you other than - I know this is going to sound cliche - life's not always fair.

Yep, you're Bama and we're just LSU. We know
But I do agree with a lot of what you are saying, too.
As I said, hopefully 2014 brings some clarity

Once again, the argument is more against having a permanent East rival period, not who that east rival is.
quote:
Alleva said 11 of the 14 SEC schools are in favor of retaining permanent opponents — including Florida, the Tigers’ permanent SEC East opponent. LSU has maintained in the past that Florida also wanted to eliminate their annual game.
“I don’t think it’s fair,” Alleva said. “I think people have voted in the best interests of their schools and not the league.”

One is the potential for competitive imbalance. LSU has to play a perennial SEC power in Florida, a program that has made more SEC Championship Game appearances than any team and joins LSU and Alabama as the only schools to win two BCS national titles.
Conversely, Mississippi State plays Kentucky and Ole Miss plays Vanderbilt each year. Kentucky and Vanderbilt are traditionally near the bottom of the SEC East standings and the only two schools in that division to have never played in the SEC Championship Game.
I mean you're not gonna sit here and say that you want to play Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Missouri, etc. more often are you?

Can you imagine the outrage that would ensue if LSU didn't get a bye week before playing Alabama?
So who did LSU blackmail to get a easy schedule next year?

The irony in this thread is text book. Alabama' fans and their coach whined after they lost in Tuscaloosa to LSU last year. They even closed down one of their message boards because they were so butt hurt. Then their coach whined until Alabama weaseled their way in to the BCS Championship game. Remember, Alabama didn't win their division or conference. Now the same coach is whining about how Florida may get to play in a BCS bowl without winning their division or conference. So what are they doing now? They are whining about LSU fans whining about scheduling. Oh the irony.

We already know LSU getting screwed by the schedule falls on deaf ears.
I think LSU fans should whine about it a little more. Maybe that will fix it.
or maybe UGA fans can just act like they have a good team. After that (this is the funny part),when UGA makes it to the SEC championship game against a good opponent, they can lose 42-10

Alabama also whined so much about their 2010 schedule they got a new rule passed, but shhhhhhh
LSU is just a bunch of whiners, and only us.
We are also butthurt and scared.

this quote fits in a lot more with what I am saying and not about being "scared" of playing Florida. the permanent Easy opponent does mess up the balance of the league (schools are voting in their best interest...rivals and to still keep their tradition, and the schools playing crappy schools want to keep that). playing at the opposite division SEC schools once every 13 years is not a league.
the other thing you quoted I guess is from a writer? he is just stating facts.

No, but I would like to play in Lexington more than once every 13 years. I would like to go to Columbia sometime in the near future...who knows when that will happen
I guarantee you majority of LSU fans want to play Florida every year. I can start a thread on the Rant right now and prove it to you.

It's okay, Tennessee used to be really good. And Kentucky just hired Stoops, so they'll be good too.

Yes. You can play what if's all day. I was playing along with your scenario of the original schedules before expansion.

We whined for one year. Your fan base has been whining about the Alabama-Tennessee game and the LSU-Florida game since I've been a member of this board.

"but, but, but...you're whining isn't as bad as our whining. So you are the bigger whiner"
"stop calling our schedule weak"
"LSU fans are so butthurt"
Trying to have a rational argument with Bama fans is useless. AT least 615tider gives me hope for the Alabama fan base
